On my rear view mirror pressing the power button on and off (green lit button on bottom right of mirror assembly) on my 23 GX appears to have no effect of the mirror. The reflected image does not change, I assume it should perhaps brighten or darken with button selection. The image does not change and always seems slightly dark regardless of power button being in on (green lit) or off position. Perhaps I don't understand how the mirror is supposed to work.
Anybody had a clear idea of what is supposed to happen to the rear view mirror reflected image when power button is in on versus off position?

***hello I don't have a 2023 but I believe all you are doing is turning on and off your Homelink for your garage do.or opener operation
While the three buttons on the left side of the mirror are for the HomeLink, the fourth button in the middle with the green guide light is for the Electro Chromatic dimming mirrors. System compares light coming in the front of the mirror (windshield side) with light coming in the back (high beam glare side!) and dims the mirrors. Quickest way to show this is to start with the car off. Find and cover the front side sensor (small square opening on the passenger side) with a fingertip. Start the car and the mirrors will instantly dim to a dark green shade. Note the outside mirror also dims. Uncover the sensor and the mirrors will slowly clear. Legit reason to turn off the feature include backing out of a dark garage into bright sunshine. Dim mirrors may not see important obstacles.
When I do back out of the garage the driver side mirror is super dark. From what I gather the passenger side does not have this feature.
Yup, C19-production constraints eliminated the dimming mirror on the passenger side and power folding. Then 10/20 production the power folding was brought back.

okay maybe all this explains the situation on my 2020 Tundra which is a always aggravated me. Backing down by driveway after hours the side mirrors are darker I never understood that why would you want to darken the mirrors at night? So now after reading these comments, I guess because in the far distance is the light on the front of my garage. How could I change this I don't like it thanks
