Pcv failure?
I just replaced my pcv valve because I knew it was probably NEVER changed. Got one from Autozone(prob my issue here) and a new grommet. The old grommet was ROCK HARD and I broke half of it inside the cover but was able to get rest out from what I could see. I also made sure I could see the gas come out from there perfectly fine. But after I replaced it the next day on the second start of the day a cloud of smoke just comes out from under the car. And I thought it was just moisture but it did it again today. Am I tweaking and it’s just moisture or a faulty part?
Did the cloud of smoke have an odor, and does it still happen? My understanding is that if some of the grommet fell into the valve cover there is a baffle to catch it to prevent the remnant from doing any harm to the valve train etc.
it smells like burnt plastic. It only happens on start up and from my understanding this only happens from a faulty pcv. I put my old one back on and it still happens. Tomorrow I’m gonna take my valve cover off and wash out the baffle, hopefully that works out.
