I will soon need new pads and rotors for my 2017 RX350. I bring my RX and ES350 to Toyota for all routine maintenance. At my next service at Toyota I plan to ask them for a price quote using the specific Lexus part numbers (not "AZ" parts) for the pads, rotors and front shims that I provide. I will also ask my local Lexus dealer for their best price.
So 2 questions:
1) What do you think is a fair price for a Lexus dealer to perform this service, and
2) Would you trust Toyota to do an equally competent job?

1) depends soley dealer to dealer
2) yes and no. If i know the level of service they provide, yes. If i am using them for the first time with hopes...well idk.
I would personally either diy the job or find a respectable indy that you can trust, respects your ride and have them perform the job with Toyota parts (customer supplied parts these are becoming another point of contention).
If you want to buy OE pads and rotors you can only get them from Lexus Dealership, not Toyota.
As for the job done, which dealership offers the best rates then go with them.
Depends on the part. A lot of consumables are the same. The issue however is supercession of a part, for when factory items eol. Always check with the selling dealer whats their policy and the exact part number they are shipping out.

We are talking about brakes only. There is no Toyota model that uses the same brake parts as the RX350. I've already checked this.
So although the exact same brake system is shared by many Lexus and Toyota models, Toyota decided to give each a unique part number for whatever reason, probably to make more money. That is crazy.
I know the 2010-2020 RX use the same front pads as the 2016 Toyota Highlander & Sienna and several other Toyota models according to application charts available at Rock Auto.
I have done brake jobs on these vehicles.
AKEBONO which is an OEM supplier, although also sold as aftermarket, these exact pads are likely sold in Lexus or Toyota boxes.
