what brands of cars would you never own and why?
figured this might be fun...
i'll go... BMW
why? don't like the image, a lot of the way i see bmw's driven, and most of their cars in the past 10 years have been super ugly to me. of course, imo.
good lease deals though... 🤔

There is no car I would not own if the price was right.
I have owned over 150 cars in my 90 years and not one of them was not fixable. Now some were ugly, Goliath. Some were a mess to maintain, Citroen ID and DS series. And some never got out of the driveway, Opel GT. But all were good cars if properly treated and maintained. Some of my favorites that were lambasted by the press and ignorant owners include SC430, Rolls Royce Silver Spur, Chevrolet Corvair, AMC Pacer, Ford Model T, Hudson Commodore 8......and others. Almost every car has its haters, usually because they are ignorant of the good features and concentrate on the bad features. Some were real beasts, but survivable,
I once drove a Mercedes 220 across the Sanoran desert with a shower cap replacing the diaphragm in the fuel pump. An Austin Princess 250 miles while my wife pulled a string on the primmer lever on the fuel pump every 2 seconds because the internal cam had broken off. A 1947 Daimler with a dried up cork seal in the gas line from Houston to Austin (would only go down hill not uphill because of air leaking into the intake of the fuel pump) Had to drive it up hill backwards...LOL The RR only got 7.5 miles to the gallon.
All were survivable adventures with a bit of McGiver engineering. All were cars I loved.
As I look at that brief list I realize that most of my problems were with gasoline so my next car will probably be electric, Tesla.

Chrysler, BMW, Hyundai, Lexus--new ones at least.
Chrysler quality I've never had good luck with, BMW has changed too much and is still inferior to MB, Hyundais are meh, and Lexus the only one I want is the LC which just got killed.

Are you sure this is going to be fun? So you haven't even owned one but already knew that you're not getting one mainly because of how you've seen BMWs driven? Got it.
Speaking of how people drive... we were on freeway yesterday and this dude tried to kiss our tail. Maybe I shouldn't be doing 73 on fast lane on a 65 freeway. So I moved to the right lane. He passed us then zigzagged through the moderate traffic in front of us. At one point, he had no way to pass so... he got onto the right shoulder so he could pass. Wow... there I was... in a BMW. Lol. Guess what car he was driving? A model 3.
Did you know some BMW owners code their cars so they could get 5 blinks instead of 3?

wow, some great responses!
of course! but my intention was brands we dislike and why.
you're not wrong there. although i've heard many stories of people who drove them for huge numbers of miles without issues. fugly, but reliable.
both of those have (an earned) reputation of being cheaply made. both of them don't suck on reliability though, although we all know hyundai/kia has lots of recalls.
they're both value play brands.
i pulled my hyundai ioniq 5 into a parking lot at the ups store i go to a lot and as i walked in one of the staff said "there he is with his back to the future car!" thought you'd like that reference. maybe it's the matte silver paint on mine.
post of the day, for sure! perhaps post of the year! i can't think of anything comparable.

and 90 - good for you!

Can't think of any brands I hate but I never liked anything about the PT Cruiser. Lol
Spoiler

so what brand or model of car could you never see yourself driving? begins with a 'T'?
There is no brand of car I wouldn't buy. The idea that an entire brand of car having bad or good cars is just totally not true, there are models within every brand I would and models I would not buy. There are models I wouldn't buy that I don't think are bad, they just wouldn't be for me too.

No such thing, in the past I had reservations towards some brands, but now I don't care. Whoever offers the features that I need for the best bang for the buck, I don't care if the car is Chinese.
Ok, ya'll really wanna go here? Lol
I have never in my life considered buying anything made by Chrysler.
Dork mobiles, every last one.
Exception is the newer minivans(love them) which gave me faith that the brand can be redeemed..
My intention is not to personally offend anyone but cars are fair game(not a person).
No disclaimers, no apologies. Haha 😃 🍿
Anyone feel free to change my.mind.
