Default 2015 NX300h V 2020 ZR Corolla Hybrid

I recently sold my gorgeous 2020 Lexus NX300 F Sport because it was way too thirsty on fuel for my inner city location. It had come to end of its 4 year lease and I was able to offload it privately for $7,000 more than the payout figure.
I am now deciding between buying my next car outright, rather than leasing from new.
I can’t decide between a 2015 NX300h sports luxury for $38K (with 82,000kms) or a 2020 Corolla ZR hybrid for $30,000 ( with 50,000kms)
what should I choose???

Not sure about the maths here. You likely sold at a loss, which wouldn’t be covered by a more economical car at the same age and mileage.

don't you always sell at a loss, unless you have a car that is appreciating...

to the OP, if the corolla fits your lifestyle needs, save the extra $8k! only you can answer if $8k is worth having an older vehicle with higher mileage but slightly more refined and more utility.

Don't know the entire financial spread, but I can't see any savings taking place. Once you have sold a newer car and bought another, you are usually already in the hole. I hope I am wrong. Trying to be fuel efficient is a task I too work hard at.

Doesn't sound like a good deal though, to have to sell a 2020 NX and downgrade to a 2015 NX or a 2020 Corolla.

Wouldn't the 15 NX have the same MPG issue as the 20 NX? If only fuel cost is the issue, seems the Corolla would be the better choice.
