Curb rash repair in Northern NJ
I think the type of refinishing is really the difference here.
There is the best way and the fast way.
I haven't seen the F Sport rims refinished, but I have seen another manufacturer wheel refinished that has the same (or very similar) finish as the F Sport rim.
The entire rim was powder-coated black, and then baked in an oven.
When it's first powder-coated, it looks like a matte black finish. After baking in the oven it comes out glossy black...like fresh paint.
After that the silver was sprayed onto the face, and it is cleared.
I'm not sure if this is how the Lexus ones are made, but it's a very durable finish as opposed to just paint. The hard powder-coat base is key to the durability.

Agreed. The gentleman said he powdercoats first after filling in the gauges. I will post pics!
I'm going to remove the wheel tonight because I have to drop it off at 9AM. Although I rather have him do it, I hate to leave my car. I just don't want any additional problems to appear in the car and I have a hard time trusting people when it comes to cars.
You only have 500 miles on the car? Call your dealer and tell them you made a mistake and want to add wheel/tire protection. Pay for the protection and get the repairs done for free. This will keep the rest of your wheels and tires covered for some time. It's probably similar in costs for the repair and tire replacement.
thank you. I went with my gut and he knows what he's talking about. One of the first things he mentioned was the hyper silver finish. If anyone lives in NNJ, his name is Rich - The Wheel Rim Group.
A little too late, but I was going to recommend to do it yourself. About $10~$15 in parts. Very easy to do.
I have to do some repairs on two of my wheels. I will probably do them in September.

Can you tell me more about this? What parts? Is this something a complete newbie can do?

I have to admit though, he did an amazing job!
