As has been said, you've come to the wrong place for finding reasons *not* to purchase an LS460.
IMO, 2011 is a good starting point because of the control arm redesign and the slight changes that debuted in the 2010 MY, such as streaming Bluetooth audio (not just phone audio), USB/iPod ports, automatic slide-away driver's seat, side mirrors with integrated turn signal lights, active front headrests, etc.
You can find most of the 2010 changes here (bolded):
Definitely 2010+. If you don't get this car, look at 2012s - the newest car you can affords will generally be the best. See if your local dealer will sell you a used car Lexus Platinum warranty to take care of any expensive repairs over the next 2-3 years (you may or may not have any, but if something goes wrong with these cars, it's expensive to fix).
wow lots of love!! I'm going to pull the trigger, lust looking for my color combo now. 1st choice gold and tan 2nd Black and Tan. My last 5 trucks were gold, I like them clean.......and gold hides the little imperfections till wash time IMO. Thanks for the encouragement, can't wait to find my sl460L I'll post pictures when I do.

and im thinking 11or 12 I love the dash lol
Well, if I had to do it all over again, I would NOT get Obsidian (black). Just too much work and every little bit of dirt, scratch, etc is so obvious. Keeping her clean is a full time job and a nightmare. BUT I would get that color over gold. Just not a fan of gold....but that's just me. Looking forward to following your hunt!
1st mth ownership 3rd month ownership
well I must be the black sheep I just purchased a 2010 LS sport and it's an electrical nightmare... did u know that everything damn near is controlled by the headunit? 2010-2012 is a no no in my book luckily I purchased an extended warranty thru the Lexus dealer at time of purchase... they've already thrown about $5800 at the car and I'm still waiting on parts I've driven 4 loaners 🤔🤕😒

Beautiful LS sport and I'm hate hear its a electrical nightmare. How was the service history? The extended warranty will save you thousands and hopefully the problems will be solved.
I'll play devils advocate... lol. I choose the Audi A8 over the LS460 due to a variety of reasons even though I have had LS's for years. Lexus make great cars and I don't have really anything negative to say about them. I would personally go with a 13+ as my research showed less part failures / service visits. Audi holds top honors in customer satisfaction according to CR but it will be a more expensive vehicle to maintain. The Lexus with all things being equal will be a more reliable car in my opinion but the Audi is a lot more fun to drive and the interior is much nicer. From the craftsmanship to material quality it is really top notch. The leather in the 460 is not that great. Nothing like 22 way adjustable massaging front seats. And yes, that's the leather from my 2013 built 14 model year. Best leather I have ever experienced.

My LS is Obsidian and it takes a lot of effort to keep it clean so I know what you are talking about. Its a beautiful color and if I get another LS it will be Obsidian because I love the color and I take pride in keeping it clean.

I have to say, that after sitting inside of a few high-end Audi's (S7/RS7 & A8/S8), the cars simply feel special. I have driven an A3, S3, A, S4, S6 and A7, but have never driven the A/S8. Between driving them and sitting inside of them, there is a feel of quality there that is unmistakable.
In my own assessment, I feel that the interior of the LS (older and newer) have a certain warmth to them. Its comfortable and not overly complicated, yet it is quite sophisticated.
Moving onto the Audi products, everything from the feel of the leather to the feel and aesthetics of the door/dash/console trims is high-quality and is comfortable, but it also feels quite edgy. Sporty, refined but aggressive and the overall feel of the interior is simply exciting. And it certainly does not hurt to step outside of the car then stand back to admire the exterior. They are beautiful machines and they drive like luxury rockets once the pedal is aggressively throttled. Amidst a casual urban drive, they are very comfortable, nimble and sure-footed vehicles. Very fun to drive, and almost more fun to simply admire.
I love the LS for what it is, but absolutely love the Audi for what it is as well.
