Default 3rd Gen IS300 vs IS350 -- DYNO RESULTS

Hey all,

Just thought I would share our recent tuning results on some IS300's and IS350's.

As you all know, the IS350's (rated at 305hp) are usually priced at least $3000 higher than IS300's (rated at 255hp). Most of the difference is the HP rating, but there are some other variations, like I believe the Fsport adaptive suspension only comes on 350 models.

That said, here is what we found:

(1) IS300 AWD is a bit underrated. When measured at the wheels, it makes about 28hp less than an IS350 AWD (not 50hp).
(2) IS300 and IS350 are mechanically identical, from the engine, exhaust, tranny, etc.
(3) Only difference between the 2 cars is the ECU calibration. As you can see from the dyno results, the IS300 is torque limited above 4200rpm.

Summary of gains:

(1) Stock IS300 AWD, just tune = 212whp stock, 250whp tuned -- Gain of 38hp on just a tune!
(2) Addition of full cat back exhaust system = Total gains of +52hp!
(3) 7200 rev limiter option on stock exhaust or catback. As you can see from the dyno plot, the power stays flat to 7200 rev limit!

Summary... an ECU tune for an IS300 nets an easy 38hp and makes your IS300 an IS350 (IS350 badges sold separately!

Yup, that's what I just posted. with a totally stock IS350, you gain +38hp with just a tune.

We just introduced an OBD tune, you use our OBD handheld device and just upload it to your car. You an always go back to stock. And you have the option of increasing your rev limit as well.

Good news.

I have a few questions: what if my car is not US spec ?does the tune work ? Or you can make some adjustments online ?

If I buy your SC kit do you adjust the same tune or I have to buy a new tune ?

The ME cars are the same spec as the US cars, same mapping. We have a bunch of customers in the ME running our tunes.

If you buy our 3IS supercharger kit later on, then we will email you a new tune. You will upload that to your OBD device, and program your car for the SC tune.

Quite interesting how the torque just drops off at 4200 RPM. If I didn't have a leased car I would jump on this tune, and I have doubts about the warranty.

So the 300 will gain 38HP or the 350. You wrote 350 above.

I believe Rafi mistyped his post. The 38rwhp gain was in reference to the IS300 with a tune.

On the RR-Racing website, they have a stock 3IS350 gaining 10rwhp with the tune plus an additional 15 rwhp when the 3IS350 is equipped with a high-flow exhaust (total of 25rwhp over stock).

Guys, I am sorry for the typo and confusion, here are the gains (I corrected the original post):

(1) Stock IS300 AWD, just tune = 212whp stock, 250whp tuned -- Gain of 38hp on just a tune!
(2) Addition of full cat back exhaust system = Total gains of +52hp!
(3) 7200 rev limiter option on stock exhaust or catback. As you can see from the dyno plot, the power stays flat to 7200 rev limit!

I hope that makes sense. We do have a special introductory price right now, so this is huge bang for the buck.

If I'm reading the graph correctly..

A tuned is300 produced more power/torque than a stock is350?

Have you tested the 0-60 with the tuned is300?

With this tune, you get a handheld OBD programmer, you can flash back to stock whenever you want.

Correct, a tuned IS300 will make more power/torque than a stock IS350. And a tuned IS350 will make more power/torque than a stock IS350. Bottom line, the IS300 and the IS350 are identical, except for the ECU calibration.
