Can you explain a bit more about what a "coating" is? This is a new term to me.

Thank you.

In simple terms its a more advanced wax that was designed to be "permanent," but it just last longer and aids in keeping the car clean.

This thread will do a better job of explaining it:

Thanks. I use Klasse Sealant which does a pretty fine job. I might try one of these others in the future.

I haven't used a klasse product since 2007. It was a great product for its time, but the technology for car detailing products has advanced so much in the last 10 years. Klasse is still a great product and if you are happy with the results, then there is no need to switch. If you want to try something new, then a water activated spray sealant or coating is the way to go. For quick maintenance on my other cars I use Nanolex Wash Coat which is mixed with water and sprayed on the car when it is wet, then rinsed off. 97-SC300 recommends CarPro Hydro2O which works the same way. (I still haven't tried it yet, even though I have a small bottle in my garage).

The coatings have a very tedious install process. A complete paint correction should be done before the install because any imperfections in the paint will be amplified once the coating is installed. If you choose to go the coating route and diy, then do some research into what the flashing time is for each product. If the product completely cures on the paint before you wipe it off, then you'll have to polish it off and redo that section, so it is best to only work small areas at a time.

I use ceraglazeone nano coating, you treat it as a wax and wipe off just like any other wax but it has the same nano property's if you look at my car, people think its been re clear coated but its not lol, this wax actually works, all this nano treatment is great but if you have flaws your best bet is to get a nano wax
