coming from you 4th gen GS owners, i am cross shopping between the GS and IS models, i love both of them styling wise, but the room in my dads GSF is really nice, i am getting a lexus next year when i get my drivers license (have my permit now) but i really need some suggestions. both models will be 350 F-Sports so it's the cosmetic differences I've been looking at. thanks guys

 

GS is pimp and IS cool and really depends on your height. The taller you are, getting in and out of IS will get old.

 

im 5'9" and I've sat in the IS before its not to bad, btw how did you set up the bar and the word nineleven under it?? i don't know how to lol

 

I find getting into my GS to be easier than climbing up into to my 2015 RAM 1500 work truck. I could have bought a CPO IS350 F Sport for $8k less than my GS but the GS was better in almost every way.

In my opinion the IS model is a toy, it's so small and plastic-ey looking and theres a TON of them on the road. It is slighter faster 0-60 if you have a need for speed.

The GS is larger, more mature looking and still quick 0-60, more luxurious such as a 12.3" screen and interior. The GS isn't as common on the road.

At the end of the day chose which YOU prefer and what YOU can afford.

 

I thought my two prior ISes were great, then I picked up the GS. I won't go back. Quality, comfort, and performance are much better in the GS.

However, the IS is probably more age-appropriate for you, unless you're the kind of guy who carries a briefcase to class.

 

If you're young & don't need the extra room (having to haul people in the back seats), grab the IS for MUCH cheaper. It's more nimble & has a good amount of power for it's size. Fun car to mess around in.

Later on in life, when you get more mature and admire things like fit & finish.. plus maybe you want more room for rear passengers, get the GS.

At your age (guessing 16-17 years old), I would stick to the IS. Plus, insurance should be cheaper on it and it is a great looking car aesthetically.

If you're going after just aesthetics, then you could also consider the RC 350 F-Sport, which looks beautiful & is priced similarly to the iS 350 F-Sport. It doesn't have the rear seats and also weights about 150lbs more (with the same engine, so it's *slightly* slower to 60). Some prefer it over the IS & GS, so it's worth reading some topics in their subforum.

My opinion on overall value & to future proof yourself: GS > IS > RC

My opinion if you just want to have a fun car: IS > GS > RC

I vote for IS also. Get something different from your pops. The GS is the superior car but the IS is devotedly more youthful.

And all Lexus' are for old people. Yet here we are.

 

I'd go for IS. I miss mine.
