I just bought iPod iCharger from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00015GYTU
I tried it today just to find that when iPod is connected through AUX and charged from 12V outlet, there is quite annoying background static noise. It only there when iPod is plugged to 12V. When it works from battery (still connected to AUX) there is no noise at all. Should I try another charger? Is it a common problem when using 12V outlet? Thanks.
Ground loop problem
happens when two electrical components share the same ground (which the 12V plug and aux input do share).
If you don't charge your MP3 player while playing you won't have this problem, or vice versa, just charging won't cause it)

Thanks! Will ask my dealer to install the filter. Strange, that the problem still exists for 2008 is-f since Lexus has TSIB for 06-07 IS. Was it fixed for 2008 IS250/350?

I've seen a few folks say it was not fixed for 08s... but I haven't had this problem with my 08 using my ipod with my Belkin car kit (which both charges and provides a 3.5" out from dock to AUX)... I haven't listened more than a dozen or so hours total but I'd think it would've been obvious from the way folks describe it.
The noise is only when you are using the charger so Lexus is not going to fix all the vehicles when all they have to do is fix the ones that complain. The TSIB works great!
