The only way to VOID the warranty is if they were not installed correctly and some how the stock wiring got fried.
The correct way to run HIDs are on a relay wiring system in which the HID will draw its main power from the battery and not through the stock wiring system. The only "power" the HID kit will require is a signal from the stock car harness.
Most of these kits that are "plug and play" do not have these relay wiring kit but they can be picked up fairly cheap.

However the Ebay MTEC is made for the IS 250.Could be an advertising gimmick but...

.Well, there is a projector in there, but it's designed for Halogen bulbs and NOT HID bulbs.
Even though many convert to HID and think that the "cutoff" is ok, the one major thing about factory HID is that they have automatic leveling so as not to blind oncoming traffic depending on the grade that you are on. If you convert halogen to HID, you will not have this one very important feature. The car is still illegal.

It's been my observation that many (most?) people obsessed with HIDs are more concerned with the look than the functionality. That is, they want to change the bulbs because their lights don't look as blue as (insert other car brand here). Only others that have inordinate amounts of time to browse websites with pictures of bulbs with Japaneses writing and lots of exclamation points will notice the difference, but I digress.
With that in mind, I highly doubt the law, visibility, or blinding oncoming drivers will change this behavior pattern.

Hey, I say if you want HIDs in a non-HID projector/housing then do it. It doesn't stop 10 million others from doing it, so why should you. Most of these kits that you see for $200+ are expensive.
