Cool

Depends on the system, but there are multiple ways. What you want is the ACIS flap to stay shut all the time on all v6's pre vvt-i. (i.e. ACIS-1, and ACIS-2)
Be that re-doing the vacuum connection, making your own trigger for the ACIS flap, or simply perminantly closing the flap itself.
On the newer dual TB & ACIS-3 systems, noone has modified one yet, but I am sure that it, like past ACIS systems, has much room for improvement.

Not because ACIS dosen't work... But because the way it is applied is retareded. Toyota puts much crap in the manifold & air chamber itself - causing massive velocity losses - lowering power across the board compaired to simply not having it in the first place!

Ok, closed is the position when it hits the 3500rpm right or is closed when the car is idle or shut off?

That is what happens on ACIS-1 & ACIS-2 systems when the flap is closed all the time, or by 2500rpm. It is a free 500rpm of power, because you don't suffer from power loss as the ACIS system closes around 4100-4200rpm.

What happens on the ACIS-3 system is what I believe would happen with the perfect combination of open/closed valves.

O ok, which way is closed, sorry for being dumb. If i open it toward that yellow screw completely and rev it a little bit i hear a weird noise coming from it.

That's closed.

ACIS-I & ACIS-II are like so:

What car are you modifying? What engine?

Its a 2000 Solara with the 1mz. The flap like that=closed? To modify it dont i just need to pull that vac line? Or is closed when the vac line sucks the pin and that butterfly is flush with the rest of that piece? Sorry for the confusion.

If you pull the vacuum line, it will be a vacuum leak, and stay open all of the time. The leak will cause problems, and the flap open is the opposite of what you want in the first place.

Does the '00 Solara have the dual tb's, or the single tb like the Camry?

Its single tb. Looks just like that. Ok so i want that flap to stay closed so the top of the manifold is seperate than the bottom. Wouldnt i loose low end torque? I thought you want it open for low end and closed for top? thanks

Yes you want it closed all the time. It will provide more power, and more aggressive noise. Like I've said before, without a dyno, it won't feel as fast because it's a smoothe powerbuild, instead of low power, then + 10bhp when it flips.

My theory has always been to lower power production to lower fuel consumption, and to say Toyota has a varriable inake system.
