So models 2015-2017 got ill equipped 3G antennas installed and you had to subscribe to their services to even remote start via the 3 presses of your remote key fob. Yes, you read that correctly…to even utilize the remote starter built in to the vehicle that you purchased, you still have to pay Toyota to use it. I understand paying each month to start your car with the smartphone app. Cause that costs money to maintain. But to not be able to use your key fob is ridiculous, and extortion. It’s the same equivalent of, for example, having to pay a subscription to use your heated seats, or using your windshield wipers.
Now, for 2018 models, I think it’s the same situation. I may need to correct my previous post. I think they only got 3 years of safety connect as well. They may be in the same boat too. I know that it depends on the options you have as well. If you have the premium audio, you get safety connect for 3 years. You have the base model, you get one year.
It may be 2019 model and up that get the safety connect for 10 years, which allows then to remote start with the key fob.
Bottom line, I understand why this subject is so misconstrued. That’s because it’s a complete mess, and intended to be. Most people don’t even know they can, or could remote start their vehicle via key fob. They also are pissed that the 2015-2017 models mentioned were equipped with the obsolete 3G, when 4G LTE has been available for a half a decade prior.
yes. I have had lexus enform and now just recently lost all the features of remote start using kefob and mobile. Indeed ridiculous and frustrating.

now i am looking for some advice on what aftermarket minimal option would let me remote start and monitor door status of remotely.

read about drone mobile but on their website it appear incompatible with lexus rx350

wondering what after market mobile app option do we have for rx350 2016 model?

I'm looking at this one for my GF's 2017 RX350.
https://www.12volt.solutions/product...32076326371431
I don't have any experience with these but I posted and a few others have used it and said it was good.
Anyone else use this one... thoughts?

me, i use this. Been using it for a while now (2 years) and its been great. no issues, always works. I kind of wish i sprang for the longer range one so i can remote start it while in a resturant/etc but whatever. 12volt one is awesome! i have it on my ES and my RX.

Nice, any feedback on the subscription for the 12v system ?? or you just went with the extra fob ?? (looking, i see it enabled the oe fob for remote start)
not sure i want to carry 2 fobs, thus leaning to the subscription...
2 way is nice for long range fobs, when the vehicle is out of site

+1 for 12v. Used on my gs350 and GSF. No subscription or extra fob here just the basic module/service

drone would connect to say a compustar remote start
12voltsolutions also has a phone app module available.

looking at subscriptions, not sure i need the extra drone gps stuff, but gps location would be nice, i think its included in the 12volt subscription.
drone mobile dot com (one word)
(just researching a bit this morning, since I don't have much hope of re enabling the factory remote start)

I will explore 2volt solutions too.
I spoke to one motor shop(have good reviews) and they quoted me $550 to install compustar and drone. Remote start will be linked to OEM keyfob and Drone.
I personally need mobile option only, I have never used keyfob to start my car. 12volts app appears to have more features, along with compatibility to alexa.
Will read more about it and post back.

I just installed Compustar 2 way remote start kit from Bestbuy.
It is super long range. It even started my car from 23rd floor and my car was parked on opposite side of the building.

Default Installing remote start on a 2016 RX

Has anyone had a good experience installing remote start on a 4th gen RX? If so please let me (us) know the details. I called a local shop and they said no to Lexus but they would do most other brands.

Thanks!

No 3G = No 3 press

I got a compustar installed at Best Buy a few weeks ago when they were having a sale.

$250 installed and life goes on

Default Anyone using 12volt Solutions brand remote start with app module?

I have the 12volt Solutions remote start system with the app module for smart phone. When I use the app to lock/unlock the car it does lock/unlock but the mirrors don’t fold/unfold, I don’t get the beep, and the front lights don’t blink. Anyone else experience this issue? Fob works fine and mirrors fold, get the beep, lights blink as expected.

I know you won't get the noise feedback, but it does give a light feedback. Your parking lights are used, not the amber signals.
