Elaborate, you tried with two aftermarket trunks correct? How do you know if both trunks were not bad molds.

We'll have to wait and see what it's like when it's OEM trunk to OEM taillights

why do do you keep insisting that 2017 headlights won’t fit 14-16 or 14-16 headlights won’t fit 17? You are comparing an after market part (trunk) to what is OEM from factory. Sorry you had a bad experience with the aftermarket trunk that is met for 14-16 IS. Please don’t discourage others if you don’t know for sure that OEM lights won’t be interchangeable with OEM trunk. Thank you

On another note, if any of you with a 2017 tail lights would like to swap with my 14-16 tail lights please let me know.

Excellent stuff Mesh704 you made my day! I'll be doing the switch too, only the other way around. Taking out 17 tail lights putting in 16. I checked all the part #s you mentioned all check out fine. Two questions. 1) You bought socket & wire connectors. Is that a must, didn't the original s&w fit because a member in another thread said wires didn't need a change? 2) You ordered bulbs. Didn't the old bulbs fit? A million thanks again buddy!

Yes sir the wires have change on the 2017 tail lights. But it's easy to install just unplug the old one and plug the new one

For the bulb I think it change also

What I was referring to was the wiring on the body. No changing connectors or rewiring. You will need the wiring on the lights that match whichever light type you have.

the reason I say this is because this is a forum where people get information. I tried this with my 2017 with 2 seibon trunks with no avail. I'm just letting members know of my experience with trying to get this part on my vehicle. If you haven't tried on your own to do this swap then we don't need your input. Try it first then talk. I did.

I’m sorry the seibon trunk didn’t fit your 2017 car. Please stop deceiving people telling them the lights won’t interchange. Obviously you haven’t tried. You tried an aftermarket trunk from seibon and it didn’t work.

To help with this, here are the part numbers you need (for North American cars, other markets vary):

If you have a 17+ and want to go to the 14-16 tail lights:
81551-53270 - Lamp, Tail Outer RH
81561-53270 - Lamp, Tail Outer LH
81555-53270 - Wire, Outer Tail Lamp RH
81565-53270 - Wire, Outer Tail Lamp LH
90981-15011 - Bulb, Turn Signal (Qty: 2)
81952-22010 - Cover, Tail Light Screw (Qty: 4)
81581-53140 - Lamp, Tail Inner RH
81591-53140 - Lamp, Tail Inner LH
81585-53140 - Wire, Inner Tail Lamp (Qty: 2)
90981-11059 - Bulb, Back Up (Qty: 2)

If you have a 14-16 and want to go to the 17+ tail lights:
81551-53300 - Lamp, Tail Outer RH
81561-53300 - Lamp, Tail Outer LH
81555-53300 - Wire, Outer Tail Lamp RH
81565-53300 - Wire, Outer Tail Lamp LH
90981-13043 - Bulb, Turn Signal (Qty: 2)
81497-53010 - Cover, Tail Lamp Screw RH
81498-53010 - Cover, Tail Lamp Screw LH
81580-53160 - Lamp, Tail Inner RH
81590-53160 - Lamp, Tail Inner LH

Perfect Jeff. Very useful. I'm doing the 17 going to 14-16. Question? Is it a definite that the wire&socket parts (#3, 4 and 9 - in your sequence) and the bulbs are really needed for the conversion? Will the current ones in my 17 not work?

Coincidently, wife, I and my IS drove/ferried over to Victoria BC from Seattle this morning on a short trip. You sure have amazingly smooth roads up there I must say compared to greater Seattle area! Highway/bridge network around Vancouver and heading south to the Tsawwassen ferry were F1 perfect tarmac.

Parts 3/4 may work, they're different but similar. Part 9 will not work at all.
