You may want to reach out to Gobi. Even Prado 150 searches are basically dead end

Just an option if you went with a rear mounted spare tire setup.

"Step ladder that attaches to door mounted rear wheels."

Hopefully there will be a version for the GX460 along with their roof rack offering.

Only major issue that we will have is losing the pop up glass with the ladder added.

We are working on getting a GX-460 in house for rack and ladder build. I will not be able to answer your question until that time. I don’t currently have a time line on when the vehicle will be in but I expect some time this summer.

good point on the pop up window glass... didn’t even think about this...

that GX they are working to get in house is probably mine. i have been trying to work with them but they are kind of un-realistic. they want to keep my car for 30 days to measure and build a rack. that is not possible for me to leave my car for this long.
i think i am going to go the front runner route and not use Gobi for my GX.

Nash Fab Co is in design stages of making a driver side mounted and barn door mounted ladder.

^ yeah there are people who wanted a side mounted ladder... even more on the gx470 side. There’s a market for everything/everyone.
Personally, I’m going for the rear mounted folding ladder he’s making.

Side ladder may create whistling... and easy to cause more damage if something happened to pull the ladder... I don’t get it... rear version is a lot better... may need to optimize a little bit. Eg the screw on top. I understand that’s for the rear window but way too complicated. Should be able to be replaced by a latch or something. And the top section can be fold down, but only half way? In all, genius... at least a very promising prototype. May consider to get it...

I agree, that top screw is a bad design. I do not open my rear window enough to care though. a pin or some latching system would be better.
if the price is right I will pick one up. I never realized how much I loved using one on my 4runner until I no longer had one
