Sounds like they were less than impressed, no suprise there. I think for the money the competition is way ahead. We recently looked at the infinity QX60, this has better 3 row seating, is quieter and smoother. In addition its less money.

I don't like CVT Nissan uses in so many models. For some reason Infinity/Nissan is always under dog in the market even tho they have good products.

QX60 drives MUCH better than the RX. I couldn't find one optioned the way I wanted that compared to price I paid for my RX.

This isn’t a big surprise to me either. Consumer Reports didn’t give it glowing remarks. They have not released testing on the RXL, only their initial impressions so far. The big phrase was “3rd seat only good for in a pinch”. I think Lexus has been far to conservative on their bread & butter RX & ignoring many of the issues customers have been complaining about for two model years now. The lack of Apple/Android connectivity on such an expensive vehicle is just inexcusable.

I agree wih not liking CVT’s, but I have to say it wasn’t bad in the QX60. One thing I liked was it not shifting into a high gear to soon like the Lexus. No lugging, no vibration and no Drone. My wife is convinced thats the vehicle for her. After she drove the QX60 she finally gets what Im complaining about with my Lexus. I always thought Lexus was higher end than Infinity but in comparison to the QX60 infinity definitely wins.

do any of your actually own the QX60? I sat in my friends Qx60 and all I thought of is how uncomfortable the car is. we went to little event 45 min away and I was the rear 2nd row seat the car was noiser and stiffer then your regular RX350. I recently had a 2017 RX loaner nicely equipped and I actually really enjoyed driving the car so much so that I am thinking getting rid of our 2013 RX and picking up a newer one.

Go test drive a rx450. No shifting so always in the right gear thus no lugging, no drone or vibration. like the 350 (see the ginormous thread on the 350 drone/vibration.)

In all fairness, there is a drone under some conditions associated with the CVT. So much so that Consumers Report rates the RX450h to be a bit less quiet than the RX350 because of it. Rather than go by the spot commentary, one should go and drive samples of the cars to determine what is best for them.

Research reliability of Infiniti. In addition, have a look on their forums.

I used to think drone or vibration can't happen on CVT, till I drove a rental Nissan Rogue (CVT) last week. It has the exact character of noise and vibration as RX350, only 10x worse.

The Nissan/Infinity CVT's whether they have metal or rubber belts are still low end, low manufacturing cost transmissions with a lot of rubber band effect. They are not as reliable or as smooth as the planetary gear system used on the Lexus RX-450H CVT. Check out the Lexus CVT reviews and tear downs on YouTube to see just how advanced the Lexus CVT is. I loved my 2012 Maxima with the metal CVT belt but a lot of those transmissions died an early death. A lot of cars have droning now because the engines are lugging at such low RPM's. My 450H has just a hint of droning at times in regular mode. The RX-350 (2017) loaner I had for a week had zero droning.
