joedaddy1 (or anybody else) - Why is a new SD card from Lexus priced at over $1,000? What is the difference between the two used SD cards (noted above) with the same part number offered by the same eBay seller?
I think it's the website system... you'll have to call them and ask. No one knows the answer here.
Have you noticed that www.lexusnavigation.com doesn't work anymore? Maybe they are moving on to dealer-only model.
I would like to update this thread with some more recent information.
Yesterday, I called Westside Lexus in Houston and asked about the process and price for a missing SD Nav card. They simply told me, the price of the chip is $210 + tax & there is no installation process other than popping it in and waiting 15 minutes or so for it to load up. I did ask again to make sure that this is true for a 2015 Lexus GS350, and the parts & service advisors said that you just need to buy it, insert it into its slot, and then wait.

I think most everyone understands that. It still doesn't explain why some eBay sellers are attempting to sell SD NAV cards for prices in excess of $210. But more importantly, can a SD NAV card that has been used in one vehicle be used again in another (different) vehicle? Or, is the SD card somehow protected from being used in a different vehicle once it has been used.?

that's what I am wondering too.. since I have to sell my SD card...
Can you drive up this weekend to Boston to test out?
(1) jpettaway pays joedaddy1 $85 for his microSD card.
(2) jpettaway receives the microSD card from joedaddy1 and successfully uses it to install the map in his car's navigation system.
(3) jpettaway then decides to tell joedaddy1 that using the microSD card was unsuccessful.
(4) As promised, joedaddy1 refunds jpettaway his money.
(5) jpettaway gets a new map update at no cost.
(6) We are all left to believe that the microSD card cannot be used in another vehicle.
(7) The FBI gets involved...
I couldn't get my old card to work in my NAV.. perhaps the new maps updated the firmware or something...
oh well.. good thing I checked...
Huh, you mean the same microSD card that you successfully used (prior to the most recent microSD card update) to update your car's NAV map would no longer work in your car? Could the reason it wouldn't work be that the micro SD card no longer had any new data for your car? Did you try the newest microSD card you have used to see if that still worked? At what point in trying to use the older microSD card was it denied/rejected?

inserting the latest update brought my NAV back to life..
The old microSD = the original one that came with the car.

That's interesting. I can only assume that once the microSD card is used in a particular vehicle that it is coded to not work in any other vehicle. That would make sense because Lexus is NOT going to allow one NAV update to be used for multiple vehicles.

wait... both cards are from the same car.. my car..
I think the NAV disks have a minor system update in it, where the new algorithm can't be used with the old cards..

Yes, agree. I assume that because you used a newer card in your car that the older card you had once used in your car became inoperative and worthless.
But ... does that mean (with certainty) that either one of your cards cannot be used in another vehicle 'if' the card's data is an update to the vehicle's NAV system? I suspect not, that it could not be used for any other vehicle...
