I wonder if it's a direct swap if we already have the auto dimming mirror. I think a bunch of the US production has the auto-dim feature from the get-go.

Even my 2016 F Sport has the auto-dimming function, though it's not the same mirror as pictured above.

I don't think it's a matter if you have the auto-dimming mirror. Some countries don't have this "luxury" feature. Very nice write-up.

I like the frameless mirror design and was wondering if we can swap it out with our existing auto-dimming mirror.

it'd look like you'd lose homelink if you were to swap the pieces out. if that's okay with you, go for it. on the other hand, if you rely on homelink to open your garage door or a home gate, then I'd be a problem. well, unless you are indifferent.

Some of owners said this one(87810-0wm00) is more sensitive, compared to the original auto dimming mirror. Before I just had manual dimming mirror, so I have no idea about the difference exactly

Actually, this one is an overseas model. They don't have Homelink. It's a US market thing. Luckily, we do have a frameless mirror unit that contains the Homelink buttons.

what mirror does that come from? is it the post-refreshed 3IS? do you happen to know the part number?

This is from the RC. I think the new IS has this as an option?

Did a little more digging

87810-0wm10 has automatic dimming as well as compass and homelink

87810-0wm00 is just automatic dimming

cost difference is about 200 dollars.

I assume that it would be plug and play... am slightly tempted to try
