I actually don't like the RC clock surround at all. The grained plastic looks cheaper than the metallic-painted plastic in the IS. I wish they hadn't updated it for '17. Just my opinion of course.
Did anyone else here have this issue? The base is different between mine, so I am unable to use the covers to hide the wiring, and it looks jank even though the mirror is awesome...
Oops didn’t notice this. This explains it better than me lol. Thank you SpecOne
Holy thread revival Edwin does your RCF dome light stay on when you touch it? The centre light? The left and right works fine, however the main one fades off around 5 seconds. Door opened etc works fine.
In the US market, do the homelink buttons work when the car is powered off.
Unfortunately yes. Kind of an annoying safety issue. My wife’s car sits in the driveway, and sometimes she forgets to lock her car, or put up all the windows, so anyone walking by at night could easily not only have access to her car, but our entire house.

Does your garage door not have a physical lock on it? Might be kind of a pain but is an option.
I'm really curious now about this. I may have to try shutting the car off with the driver's window open and see if I can reach in and press the button. But if you can open the doors it is sort of a moot point.
I believe you can set the car to automatically lock, but I don't recall how.

Never even thought of this, but doesn't the car lock on it's own after a few minutes? I think after I got my COMPUSTAR remote start, the car locks on it's own. I remember there were times I forgot to lock the car and it would stay open all night. I've let the car sit a few minutes and I hear it lock on it's own, not sure though.

im thinking about at getting a 3IS and have the same concerns. A quick solution would be to remove the fuse tied to pin 6. But this may make the homelink useless among other items. Another option would be to cut the pin 6 wire and tap it into the pin 1 wire.
Pin 1 (Blue): Ignition Power
Pin 2 (Puple): Ground
Pin 3 (not on ewd?)
Pin 4 (Green): Signal for light control
Pin 5 (White): Signal for light control (both are MPX)
Pin 6 (Pink): Power
Pin 1 is fused with the 10A IG1 NO.3 fuse
Pin 6 is fused with the 10A MPX-B NO.1 fuse

I feel like it'd make way more sense to just avoid using Homelink in the first place.
But even if you have one of those remotes for opening the garage door, it would have the same problem. Those are battery-powered and work no matter what. You'd have to remember to remove it from the car.

Yes, the push button control on the wall inside the house has an electrical lockout switch, and I do use that when we go on vacation, and for a few weeks after the neighbor house was entered at night through the garage by potential thieves (scared off by the owner when he heard his garage door open, while he was in bed), but then I got lazy again and the door stays active all night.
(Neighbor’s event was not a HomeLink case, but rather his wife left her car unlocked and had a physical remote for the opener in the car.)
