Reminiscing
While taking what was probably the last drive with the top down this year, I thought about what car I ever had that I would rather have than the SC430. The list is lengthy. Here we go.
60 Falcon, no way65 Mustang, new nice lookin Falcon really wasn't a very good car67 Sunbeam Alpine, new lots of fun top went down always broke68 Plymouth GTX new 13.98 et @ 104 mph speedo highly optimistic after 100 peg it past 150. Young and dumb. 12 mpg in and out of town.
69 Toyota Corona new E2 in Navy filled the bill70 Plymouth Duster 340 new never did run up to potential
72 Ford van used took the family to Disney World with a play pin72 Opel Rally used worst car ever made73 Pinto used yuck77 Honda Accord new nice car lots of rust80 Honda Civic Wagon new 60 plus mpg with tail wind in Co. Lots of rust83 Honda Accord new nice car lots of rust86 Honda Accord new nice car lots of rust89 Eagle Talon turbo new seamed like a lot of power back thenThe list goes on new Ranger V6 no bottom end. Kids thought jump seat were kool for a couple weeks. Sentra SER Spec V new, Honda Civic new both new, got me back and forth from work. Camry V6 used nice car no rust.
There were lots of second car clunkers. To name a few, 59 Ford drinking and fishing car. Honda 4wd Civic Wagon that the rear axle rusted out literally. Jeep C10 4wd with lots of issues. Chevy pickups.
The current stable has an Rx330, LS460, Honda Ridgeline and Sc430.
WIth all the cars I've had the most satisfying and enjoyable is the SC430. Quite, decent riding, good mileage, reliable, retractable top, no leaks, air, nav and more.
It gets lots of looks and you know they are thinking you are a rich SOB. Little do they know I only gave $10000 out the door, far less than a Harley and it doesn't fall over.

I'm thinking the same too, thinking what the next car will be, ls500, gsf, lc500 is more money than what I'd like to spend on a car right now. Was considering m3 and slk55 before I got my Sc. I just can't think of something that's a better overall package than the SC. The quality, fit and finish of the materials is just so nice in the SC even compared to newer cars.
The current stable
2010 Lexus LS 460L Just turning 100K
2006 Lexus SC 430 Just Turned 68,500 miles
1990 Ford Bronco II XLT. Just Turned 143K
If I could have any of my former cars back it would be: 1964 GTO 389 Tri-Power, 4 Speed or my 1971 MB 350 SL that was brought back from Germany and converted to US standards. I enjoy driving the SC 430 but I generally only drive it about 20-30 miles a month and only on nice days
