I swear there was a thread like this few years back. A member of this club had exact same issue. Can’t remember what caused and what the solution was. Anyone remember?
Another thing I found as odd was the schematics show a second trunk switch. I kdo not know of a second switch except for the pull cable in the center console box. Is there another switch I don't know about?

What is really weird about that thread though was apparently the fuel lid and trunk lid were opening while the key wasn't even in the ignition. But I would still replace that drivers side ECU first.
Delboy55, from the post #46 of the link, both trunk lid and fuel door are tight to a single fuse in the junction box. You could pull the fuse to see if the problem goes away. Moisture has been blamed for weird electrical issues. There was a member who had a weird problem (can’t remember what it was) every time he washed the car. Turned out the water leaked into the harness create short to the electrical circuit.
