Jump starting vs. trickle charging question
I assume the SC 430 has a negative ground configuration.
Jump starting: directions are to clip the + or red lead on the Lexus to the +/red lead on the "donor" battery or jump pack (or perhaps the other way around, donor first.). Then one clips the black/- lead from the donor car/jump pack to a safe place on the engine block, NOT the negative pole on the battery. Then one starts the Sc.
Trickle charging question: how come one the same clamp location of the negative lead on the engine block for trickle charging, or does the trickle charger electronically compensate for the polarity even if it is hooked to the negative battery electrode?
(I just noticed that my B&D trickle charger allows connection to both battery poles with no negative effects. It charges the battery to 13+ volts and allows the car to start. I do have to disconnect it before I start the car.)

I use my “trickle charger” on the battery poles and always disconnect before starting. However, in the past when I’ve been victimized by the notorious Lexus battery problems, I’ve used my portable battery cell connected directly to the battery poles to start the car. As far as I can tell there have been no detrimental affects to the electrical systems of the car.
