Ordered new OEM rear shocks and the replacement rubber parts as listed in my post #30 from Megizip in Japan today. Out the door delivered $466.19. I was able to get my OEM shocks from Megizip for $127 a peace where as my son could not get his shocks from Megizip and he had to get them from Disc Monster Lexus parts and the 2 OEM shocks cost him $471xx alone.

My 2 shocks cost $474, plus tax and shipping. They made a huge difference in handling, especially with the top down. Expensive, but worth it.

I was asked about the front KYB and rear Gabriel’s I installed in April 2020...
BTW, my wife was correct, the 2002 was sold...why do they always get their way, LoL.

Bgw70, I have a few questions:

1. have you replaced any of the suspension components on your wife’s 2007?
2. If you sold your 2002, what did you replace it with? (Will you ever get another SC?)
3. Would you post a few pictures of the exterior & interior of your 07? Or provide a link of pics already posted? I think yours may look exactly like our 06. I’m interested to see, specifically, the Pioneer AVH. We are thinking of doing this soon and a picture would help me convince the wife this is a necessary upgrade.

thank you!

1. Still Original suspension in the 2007
2. I did sell it because I purchased a 2013 Caddy SRX, 51k miles for $10k...could not pass up this deal and needed more room, three convertibles was a little too much. I do miss the 2002. :-(
3. Link to the 2007 stereo mod. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...007-sc430.html
let us know if she will let you do it...it was the first thing my wife wanted done...then the exhaust, LoL

I don't see how top down handling is any different than up, aside from airflow, and slightly more weight in the trunk.

The closed top adds rigidity to the chassis. Before I added the Figs bushings, my car was hard to drive with the top down. It is much better now, but I can still feel the difference.

Brining this thread back to the top.

I thought i only needed to replace the front shocks on my 2007 so i ordered new from Rockauto. When i changed the oil last weekend and had it up in the air on the QuickJack, i looked at all four and saw the rear drivers was leaking. Since there is no aftermarket i know of, off to Megazip i went.
Below are the receipts and parts i ordered.

these are the parts for my 2007 SC430.

KYB are the original struts used by Lexus and are very good for the fronts. Use Gabriel ultras for the rear as they give a much better ride!

Default Coil over or parts listed in this discussion for 2002 SC

I have Goodyear 245 28's and the car is seriously over tired (literal and figurative wise!). There was recent note of a slight leak from one of the rear struts, which I think appeared years back. Car rides fine as a boulevard cruiser (85K), but on curvy beltway type hwy. areas at 70- up, curvy on off ramps at anything above 20mph( it's clearly in over its head (not a feeling that the rear is sliding out, more like you have to be attentive and not let the car glide like a Porsche (which it will never be, thank god)!
I'm sure it's in other threats, but can we compare doing coil overs or suspension bits?
Can anyone east of the mountain/west states advise on a shop that sells/installs either? Lesxus N..A won't allow user supplid or aftermarket, and PepBoys is a little scary from experiences nearby..Post covid prices appreciated (where to get a 'deal' on parts and service....?
I would appreciate links to FULL p/n's for ALL, and what the differences would be on my car"(my riear camber adjustment is rusted out, but I've heen told not to bother replacing it.
Thanks
John
BONUS: I think the 05's and up had revised suspension. Are there clearance/fit issues in newer components for either coil or oem equivalent or better bet. my 2002 and "newere" ride bits/settings!?
