Thanks for the Link to check your Vin. Neither my 2006 SC nor my Son's 2005 SC are on the list. I know both cars had the airbag inflators replaced under the 1st recall. I guess we will wait and see if we get a letter regarding the 2nd recall.

I checked on the Lexus Owners website and there appears to be no Safety Recall (this #2 Air bag recall on the SC) on my VIN. I need to check on the website given to confirm if my VIN is not there.

Well the NHSTA did not list my SC VIN…so it is confirmed that I do not need a 2nd round of Air Bag recall.

December 12, 2018
PLANO, Texas, December 12, 2018 –Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain Toyota 2003-2005 Model Year Corolla, 2002-2005 Model Year Sequoia, 2003-2005 Model Year Tundra and 2002-2005 Model Year Lexus SC vehicles in the United States. Approximately 65,000 vehicles are involved in this recall.
The involved vehicles were subject to previous recalls where front passenger airbag inflators were replaced with new Takata-produced, non-desiccated airbag inflators as a remedy. AnchorFor all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will replace the front passenger airbag inflator or the airbag assembly with an improved one produced by non-Takata suppliers at no cost.
A safety defect may arise in the Takata inflators due to propellant degradation occurring after prolonged exposure to high absolute humidity and high temperature cycling. Activation of an inflator with degraded propellant may result in an airbag inflator rupture. If a defective inflator ruptures, it may cause sharp metal fragments to pass through the airbag and spray directly at the driver and passengers, increasing the risk of serious injury or death.
Owners of the involved vehicles will receive notification by first class mail starting in early January.
Note to editors: This recall is being announced a year ahead of the December 2019 – Phase Five schedule established by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Toyota’s and other automakers’ outreach to involved owners of vehicles equipped with Takata airbags is designed to help resolve this issue as quickly, conveniently, and safely as possible. Automakers are taking proactive, targeted steps to help owners understand the importance of having this free repair completed; outreach examples include: dealer engagement, mobile repair units, canvassing, events and third-party partnerships. For specific information about what Toyota is doing, please follow this link.

Had my air bag replaced December 2017......looked up my vin and shows no recall.....it appears that the early replacements are the ones they're recalling......make sure you use a dealer that goes through the glove box rather than removing the dash which could be a nightmare......good luck!

Guys
I am confused
I have an 02 and the 1st recall airbag was done
I just went into the Lexus.com and the National site and nothing
shows up as a 2nd recall for my 02
Are the recall only on the first batch of Replacement that
was originally done ?
So are just the first batch of recall replacement the first round was an issue?

Guys
If you don’t need the airbag (IE not a 02-05) don’t get the replacement
Having your dash, glove box taken apart is not a good thing
if your reasoning is wanting a free tank of gas, car wash etc.
I have an 02 with the recall already completed by the original owner
and my question is more related to if the 02-05 will still
need the 2nd replacement ? Getting the recall done even for the 2nd time is
obviously for safety reasons. Having the bag explode is not going to
make your passenger too happy
reasons.
