Default Sudden High Volume

I have a 2002 and during the last days I had three times the radio silent although I shut-off the car with music playing and when I try to adjust the volume on the steering wheel I have suddenly full blast, still scares me. I read in this forum that it is possibly an issue with the Amp. I wouldn't mind to exchange it but I have a beatsonic interface for an aftermarket radio. I am not sure how to get the balance preset redone as I do not have the old radio anymore. Any suggestions?

do you know how to use the set button next to the volume buttons?

turn the radio volume to a low level, one where you can still hear music
now press and hold the set button until you hear a beep.
now if need to quickly turn the volume down, just click the set button...just a quick click.

i think it’s memory was set at a high level...I just hope it’s that easy.

thanks for that reminder, completely forgot about that. I have programmed it for a more decent volume and hope I will not be blasted out of my car anymore.

If BGW's suggestion doesn't work, I think I recall a few other people having this same problem. Unfortunately I don't recall the solution.

If you can figure out the right words, you can do a search.
