Default Anyone ever replace a Wheel Stud?

We had a bad rain in Phoenix. This caused a bad pot hole, which caused a bent rim. Removing the bent rim revealed a Bad Wheel Stud that snapped off.

It was not a good day.

Has anyone ever replaced one on their SC?

Can I follow this video?

Any chance I can do it without taking off the caliper?

I can buy one stud, or twenty studs for like $10 more. Is this a broken part fix, or a replace them all at once fix?

this job is an easy one...I used a large punch and five pound hammer to beat it out. I think he removed the caliper so he could remove the disk.

i would try it with everything on...you really have to hit it hard to remove the stud...that’s why I used a five pound. I think they pulled the caliper and disk to make it easier to insert the new stud.

there is a .pdf in the first post of this thread

Thanks BGW!

Think I can just replace the one, or should I do all twenty?

just replace the one, no need to replace the rest...

i always put grease or never seize on the studs...once is usually enough for the life of the car.
it prevents rust and ensures you will never break another wheel stud.

mine was on my TransAm right after I made the purchase and the first time I removed the wheels.
one of the lugnits had a little rust and I twisted it right off...

Thanks BGW. I like the new avatar. It is a little hard for my little brain to get used to, but looks great.

It turns out you can do it without taking off the caliper or the rotor. Toyota, with their engineering genius, created just enough bend in their dust shield so you can knock the old one out and insert a new one with very little trouble.
