Buying A 2002 SC430 Tomorrow
Hi, I have a 9:00am meeting Saturday 06/02/2018 morning with a person selling a 2002 SC430, Black with saddle interior & 107K on the car. The car appears to be mint and has a impeccable service history report. New brakes recently all the way around and had the timing belt changed at 90K. Anything special I should be looking for when inspecting the car? I did a lot of google research and know the easy and obvious to check but, maybe someone knows of the not so obvious to look for? I plan on making this car my daily driver which will probably be about 12K a year or less, I have a full size pickup as a backup vehicle or bad weather/snow vehicle. I hear these cars are highly bullet proof and should be happily issue free? After owning a pesky/needy BMW, I hope to be free from monthly gremlins....lol. The only issue with the car is the GPS touch screen does not do anything when touching the screen and above the gear shifter selection letter there is a tiny square looking hole that apparently got lost and needs to be replaced and that's it. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks, Gene
You have a lot of reading to do: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...ned-sc430.html
the missing part from the gear shift selector is easily ordered no big deal. However, the question is why is it missing. The part hides the manual release for the transmission and the only reason to remove that part was a transmission problem. (Couldn’t get the car out of park) The GPS display, if you want it to work is a very expensive repair, although you may be able to find a used display. The GPS system’s last and final up date was version 15.1 which mean 2014 data. Many don’t use them anymore as smartphones are, well, much smarter.

Great advice, I'll definitely go through the transmission a few times, used trans appear to be plentiful and inexpensive and I'll definitely play with the roof 3 or 4 times. Wish me luck!
Thanks,
Gene
