Default What's this on the bottom of the dashboard?

Any ideas as to what this "pop out" is on the lower dash panel (passenger side) (see 2 photos)? My lower dash panel was rattling, so when I went to investigate I saw this square raised area with two square and one round cut outs. Does something belong here? Thinking a fastener went into the round hole, I looked for a mounting bracket that would be affixed to the dash behind it to secure the panel, but I found none. Any Ideas?

Thanks,
David, in Santa Cruz

I am not sure but it may be a inlet vent for a sensor for air condition or heat. I will look at my 2005 and see if I can figure it out
