Default Poor man bluetooth

For those who don't want to spend couple hundred dollars for the DVD player with bluetooth, here is the option:
1. Monster cassette adapter 19 bucks
2. Bluetooth receiver 19 bucks

Connect the cassette adapter to the bluetooth receiver then pair your phone with the receiver.

Now you can listen to your favorite songs from your phone wirelessly.

One thing that I don't understand that while the bluetooth in the NAV only for the phone and not for the music, and the bluetooth receiver just for the music but not the phone. So you need both. Crazy huh?

I think he means there are two Bluetooth protocols. My 2006 supported BT connection for the phone, but you could not stream music. I needed a VAIS Tech BT adapter to add A2DP protocol for streaming music.

The sound quality is superb (as long as you don't buy a cheap cassette adapter). You can get these items from EBay or Amazon.

I believe this concept is specific to each bluetooth device. My Arion dongle has both protocols, phone and music. So I can play music, change track, adjust volume to the ML headunit and take/make phone calls from it that will play through the car audio system, as it has its own built in microphone. So theoretically, the OP's description of needing two devices is due to the limited capabilities of each respective device. I'm sure I've read (actually on this forum if I recall correctly), of someone who posted a product that is a rechargable bluetooth cassette that connects to any bluetooth device and can supply phone and music playback protocol. Of course, none of the track remote buttons on the headunit or steering wheel will work, but the volume toggle buttons will work. Additionally, every time you want to change track, you would have to pull out your device. (Hehe that last sentence sounded dirty. )

https://www.walmart.com/ip/ION-ITR20...apter/39577143 (Doubt this one does phone protocol, so only music. But removes the need of two devices as stated by the OP). Fair priced.

As a side note, I don't understand why this turned out to be a new thread... there is an existing thread called POOR MAN'S AUX Input. This thread would have flowed nicely there but I digress.

Shawn,
First, Thanks for the Infos on the Bluetooth cassette. I didn't know such thing existed. I'd have saved 20 bucks. Second, the only reason I started the new thread cuz I thought the Bluetooth is completely differ from the aux. You're right, I could continue that thread. Thanks again.
