Default New-New Updated Radio

Just a quick question... Several years ago I removed the OEM radio, and install an aftermarket Pioneer with the Beat-Sonic harness. I am going to install a newer updated Pioneer. Since my memory is a little foggy, this should be a simple install, correct? It should be a simple plug and play from the old radio. Any thoughts? Thanks....

If your old aftermarket radio worked right, the new install should be very simple as changing out the head unit. If you go with another Pioneer, chance would be a plug and play. You might be able to use the old harness for the new deck.

...I agree with MY1998LS40 also, another thing you might need to check are the dimensions of the new radio. If they are the same, then there shouldn't be any fitment issues either.

did anyone figure out how to upgrade the OEM screen? I use it with my similar set up (Pioneer/beatsonic) but the picture quality is pretty bad.

It was a direct swap out. However, I had to change the wires around a bit on the harness, but it didn't take but a couple of hours. Here is a picture of the finished product.

Even if it is the same manufacturer as the one you are replacing, be sure to check the wiring. Manufacturers have a nasty habit of making changes without alerting folks and you wind up having a couple of signals crossed in the harness.

Nicely done. I have the Avic-8100Nex with backup camera. It's working nicely. The auto connect on Bluetooth sucks though. Every once in a while I'd have to disconnect my phone and reconnect it again in order for it to work.

It is the 4200NEX. It works flawless right now. I am really surprised with the sound quality of the bluetooth. I have asked several people, who said the call quality on their end was really good. Before there was a faint muting of the sound because of the bluetooth, but this connection is really nice. I did not hook up the back up camera.

Where did you get the burlwood trim pieces for the left & right of the radio? All I have seen are the cheap black plastic ones.

King Reyes, I replaced some of my "wood" in the dash and used the old piece to cut up and I glued the pieces to the side pieces that came with the bracket.

That's actually a fantastic idea! I'll go look for a wrecked Jaguar with maple burl wood and cut me those peices, maybe even those folding tables.... Anyways thanks!
