NJ/NYC Pre-Purchase Inspection mechanic?
Anyone have a recommendation on where/who in NJ or NYC to bring a used SC430 for a Pre-Purchase Inspection?

Looks like you live in MA, and might be purchasing the SC in NY/NJ.
The most important thing is to find someone who you trust, which may not be easy if you don't have a recommendation. I do most work myself and don't have a regular mechanic here in NJ, but if I had to give you a name, I'd say CONDEMI MOTORS in LODI, NJ.
The Better Business Bureau is a good place to go to check out a shop. It may not always be 100% accurate (either way), but I would certainly trust their info sooner than a comment or two from people I don't know. If you look at the BBB for Condemi, you will see they are rated A+.
If you go to a Lexus dealer you will surely pay much more for the opinion. What you will get for paying more is...a higher credit card bill! The fact that you're paying more or going to the dealer does NOT mean that you're getting anything more or better. I had the most horrific experience at a dealer once and was upset for weeks over it. I input a big writeup on it on one of the Solara boards.
Another suggestion is to call in to the weekly Car Talk radio program (or visit their website).
