Hi.

I've seen some SC 430s that had this incredible pearl luster. I would describe the color as "pearl" more than white.

I just went to look at a 2004 which was painted "white gold crystal." To me it just looked white. When I got my face right up to the paint, I could see it had some pearlescence, but mostly it just looked white.

Was the more pearl-like white I have been seeing on the road a different year? Or am I just imagining things?

Any input appreciated.

The color you are referring to is called Lexus "Starfire Pearl". It is truly a gorgeous color with depth and pearlescence. My 2008 Lexus SC430 has it, and was a major reason I searched as long as I did for this exact color combo with Ecru interior. Lexus changed to this color after "White Gold Crystal". My 2004 SC430 is also White Gold Crystal (065). I haven't seen the newer Starfire Pearl (077) with more pearlescence so I cannot comment on that but I wanted to add that the 065 came out from 2002 to 2006 and the 077 came out from 2007 through 2010. I found this code at toyotareference DOT com before I could find the sticker on my SC even after looking hard at the pillar, the inside of the door and under the hood. Eventually I found it on the side of the door but it was too far down for me to notice in earlier attempts.
