Default Considering Purchasing an sc430 need advice

Good morning everyone, I've been doing some research and I plan on purchasing an an SC430. It would be my first Lexus. My price range is around 15. Are there any known problems with this car that I should be aware of? Also, for modifications I've read that the torque converter and supra differential are the best. What kind of torque converter would I look for? Noticeable differences? I currently own the only turbo bmw 540i in the USA. Its too fast for me now I'm looking for something that has good power but won't drain my wallet as much. Also not planning on modding this car too much it would be my daily driver. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank You

Welcome to the family. I have found my SC430 to be a wonderful car. There are not a lot of performance mods to makes things to the car but that is just what I have read. I enjoy it stock. For $15K you can get a 2002 (or so), which is what I have. TRD created a beast in 2001 but did not make a lot of significant changes through its life. That is a good thing as a lot of the things that changed can be updated in older models. Just read the forum for possibilities. Just hold onto your wallet. Lexus is expensive, but parts are a great deal less expensive from Sewell as a CL member. have fun.

Thank you for your reply. After modding the bmw I didnt think there would be a huge difference in price upgrades. Seems to be an all around good car. I feel like you can get more out of a v8 I'll have to look more into it. I definitely don't want to do any kind of forced induction. I still want something efficient. Any major repairs on yours? And any mods you saw made a difference?

Iceman, welcome to the forum. Check out the stickies at the top of the forum page. There's tons of information there and an entire thread dealing with what to look for when purchasing a SC430, along with where the problem areas are. Best of luck to you and let us know how things turn out!
