Headlight Bounce
So the last couple of times I started the car and the headlights came on, they sort of, for lack of a better word, "Bounced". It was like they were deciding on level. I have had the car for three years and never really noticed that before. Any of you guys have the same experience?
I also noticed that once in awhile, when I am going pretty fast, that if I come over a rise, it sort of does the same thing. I am wondering if I should get it into the dealer while I am on extended warranty and have them check it out. I'd feel like an idiot if it was "normal" so I thought I would as the combined brain trust here first. You guys have more combined knowledge of this car than any service rep in a dealership I have ever seen.

My car also does this at exactly the same instances (at ignition and when going uphill or downhill- to avoid blinding oncoming drivers, i assume). I believe it to be normal of our vehicles. "Auto-leveling headlights"
On the "bounce" at start up - quite normal. And auto leveling is supposed to ensure you get the correct beam pattern cast ahead of you depending on how the car is situated ( nose high or nose low ).
What would be abnormal is if bouncing occurs when going over bumps ( which happened to me some time ago ) and this came together with an overly sagging beam pattern where I could only see a few feet ahead of me at night. This happened when my leveling sensors failed and the leveling sensors had to be replaced under CPO warranty which was in place when I first bought the car a few years back. The tell-tale sign is when your yellow leveling sensor warning light illuminates on the dash. Mine warning light intermittent but the beam pattern was so low that the dealership replaced the leveling sensors, recalibrated and everything was good after. No such problem again in the last 4 years.
