So, I have Stoptech rotors and brakes, and it squeals when (a) it's warm after a few minutes of driving and (2) only when I initiate braking softly to slow down, but disappears after braking firmly to stop.
Brake pads have about 80% left on them.
What gives?

What kind of pads are installed?
If you have the ST40 calipers, I recommend using Centric 105.0609 Posi-Quiet Ceramic Brake Pad with Shims ( ).
I recently replaced my noisy pads with the Centric ones on my SC430 (with StopTech 355mm ST40 Front BBK).
When cold, there's still a slight squeal, but that goes away after 1 or 2 stops.

Greasing would probably work but might just be a temporary solution. Do you have anti-vibration clips or shims? If not, CRC Brake Quiet on the steel side of the pad might help.

I agree with member JohnnyCake. The shims probably needed to be replaced and are the cause of the sqeaking. I had my brakes replaced, on my Sc and have the same problem. Reading that not replacing the shim when getting new brakes pads can result in brake noise. There is no harm/damage that can result from this noise, only a matter if you can put up with the annoyance.
