Default Where have all the sports cars gone?

Where have all the sporty cars gone?
Sung to the tune of - Where have all the flowers gone?

I did a search and found many manufactures are out of the sporty car business.
Listing of manufacture – model – year last produced.
1. Lexus – our beloved SC430 – 2010
2. Acura – NSX – 2005
3. Honda – S2000 – 2008
4. Mazda – RX8 – 2011
5. Mitsubishi – 3000GT – 1999
6. Toyota – MR2 – 2005
Thank you for the help in adding the following;
7. Toyota - Supra - 1998
8. Hyundai - Tiburon - 2008
9. Nissan - 300ZX twin turbo - 1996
10. Saturn Sky - 2009
Did I miss any?

Nissan being the lone one to continue the reasonably priced 370Z and Mazda introduced the Miata.
At the upper end there is Nissan’s GT-R and way up Lexus’ LFA

When the market crashed around 2008, businesses were not likely to risk making pricey niche cars.

Even Aston Martin and Porsche had to make sedans to survive.

As the economy recovers, automakers are more confident in reviving such cars.

Note now that Lexus has two, maybe even three coupes, on the horizon...

If you have an RX8 on the list then you have to have the RX-7 and the Toyota Supra, right?

I disagree sometimes about the SC430. IMHO it isn't a sports car in the truest sense of the word, it is a luxury cruising convertible. Right? Don't you really think so? Like the SL-class MBenz, it is a beautiful thing to own, comfortable to drive and it really is not a performance car. In my own small mind, sports cars are those things that when you drive them out of the dealership you know it is a performance vehicle.

Let the bashing begin.

Correct as to a true sports car more of a sporty car. I having owned a Triumph TR4 and regrettable passed up a chance to own a 1960 Austin Healey 3000, agree with you to some respect. I didn't include the RX7 because I believe that it was replaced by the RX8.
As you said, let the bashing begin..........

SC 430 was never considered to be a sports car, it is a refined touring roadster. You never smoke the wheels of a Lexus unless it's a LFA!

Purists may say that anything with an auto tranny is not a sports car. Sports cars must be driven. The Porsche 911 has auto tranny as an option. So debate is in the definition of sports car. In the day when I had the TR4 purists could label it as not a true sports car because it had roll up side windows not like the classic Healey which had the canvas and plastic snap on side curtains.
The intent of the list was to list modern cars closer to a sports car than a station wagon.
May the debate continue.......
