Autozones scanner isn't going to read vehicle specific codes.

Default Thanks for all the comments

Good feedback from all. Anyway, got a date with the dealer on Friday. It is about an hour drive. Does anyone have a tip on how to disable/reset/turn off the alarm chime? An hour of that thing blaring will not improve my mood much.

Default Update

Things are getting stranger all the time. Got up this morning to go for a bike ride and had to back the SC out to make room. Oddly enough no red light on the Open/Close switch. Drove it around the block, no problem. It is tempting to try the lowering the top, but I think I'll let the dealer do that. One more thing. There is a sounds coming from dashboard, perhaps behind the radio, that sounds like relays working or some mechanical switching. Don't know if it is related or not. Figured I'd mention it.

Won't the scanners be able to pick up the code, just not be able to decifer them? My suggestion was to obtain the code and have someone on the forum to decifer it.

Their reader won't read the body codes. You've got like seven or don't remember exactly how many computers modules. It doesn't read all of them like techstream does. Carista Might I'm not sure though.

The codes for the roof are proprietary dealer can give you them but they will charge to hook up. I don't know if the techstream will give you codes

~30, including options like Telephone.

I agree, the generic readers will only read generic codes.

Without going into details, they will filter out ones they don't know (car specific) and won't be able to send "queries" to an ECU and decode the responses.

Indeed. TechStream will read them all, that is what it's designed to do (the Toyota/Lexus diagnostic combo of hardware & software) I paid £10.37 for mine ($14.94), including delivery. Just have to wait 2-4 weeks for it

Get yourself a TechStream if you want more than the standard OBDII codes.

Default Back from the dealer

Got the SC back yesterday. The dealer is Lexus of Orange Park, Fl. A bad switch in the trunk was causing havoc. They cleaned it, did a few minor adjustments and now the top works great. Unfortunately, the Nav door is now stuck in open position. The CD changer no longer works. Oy! The dealer told me to bring it back and even stated that the components were working when they were problem solving the top.

I'll take it back after I do some traveling. They are happy to take a look and fix anything they may have caused. So far, this is the best dealership I have ever seen. The cost was $170 for the diagnostics. Just what they told me up front. The Nav door I fixed about two months ago so, I'll take another crack at it. CD changer, is a minor concern. Plans are to either replace the unit with a more modern one or go for bluetooth modification. Radio portion works fine and that will suffice for now. The rest of the car checks out well.

I'm thinking the electrical problems in the console my be due to a coffee spill that occurred somewhere in it's 15 year history. When I went to disconnect the TPMS there were coins and other such things stuck to the tunnel where the shift and other parts reside. They were covered with a thick brown film that had a coffee oder. There is a large slot in the side of the cup holder that allows things to drain right in. Nasty design.

I'm glad it went well, and to hear that your dealership is just that, and not a stealership. Wish everyone could have that kind of service.

That's really good news about the top Mike. At least they didn't try to repair by systematically replacing parts and racking up the costs. Sounds like you found a good dealership.

Default Need link to eBay for that roof while package

I'm having roof problems as well. St dealer here said it needed a switch replaced in the trunk costing $1600 for a switch. The mechanic at the dealer did something and it worked for a day. now it won't go down. If like to do whatever he did. I paid $130. Just to use this one day is ridiculous. When I press the open switch no red light comes on indicating it's operational. No blinking light either. Any suggestions?

Did you read all of the posts in this thread and the other roof threads, then try to read any codes the system is giving you?
After you have codes, report back.
