Default Console transmission shift bezel

I have managed while cleaning and polishing to rub the console shift bezel to wear the "chrome" has turned black in spots and looks horrible. Any ideas- are there any applications that would not require taking the console completely apart?

I'm pretty sure the little metal bezel ring just slides right down so you can then unscrew the bolt that holds the shifter in place... at least from a video i watched on Youtube on how to remove the center console panel.

>> UPDATE: According to this... https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...-system-9.html.... the shifter just unscrews.

Trying to send picture, but it is the piece through which the gear shift goes which indicates what gear you are in along with the coin holder.

I want to see how much damage was done. If you get a picture showing the black spots I might have a suggestion on how to improve it

You can use any of the web site susch as photobucket, etc. Copy the link and paste it on your post. That's the quickest way. Have you done this lind of posting pics before?

Good luck.

I have been looking for a shifter bezel because mine has been scuffed by the previous owner. How does one do that anyway?

I luckily don't have this problem (knock on wood), but I would think that you should be able to separate it from the shifter and use a high quality 3M chrome spray and then use the 3M clear coat spray; or if it is not removable, tape off the wood grain portion and then chrome spray and clear coat spray it. Third option is to get it chromed at a chrome shop that customizes motor bikes. Not sure if they would be able to chrome dip it since it looks like plastic. Some options though.

I looked into replacing the shift bezel plate....Sewell Lexus has the part and it's not that expensive. I think they quoted me around $75, which is less if you use the CL discount. I never did get it as I didn't feel comfortable pulling apart the console.

Also, hope you were not in harms way with the tornado Shawnok.....tough watching the coverage of the devastation in Moore....

Thanks for the concern bhop. It's a real tragedy. I'm an hour south of Moore but we had the storms here first that moved up that way and resulted in the tornado. Really tragic. Moore just hasn't been able to catch a break. Eight tornadoes since 1993, including the massive F5 in 1999, which destroyed my house two days prior as microbursts. Right now, so many people have had to migrated to my city, Lawton/Ft. Sill, after all the destruction and loss of life. Usually when I hear the sirens around here I just turn a deaf ear, but I now have a renewed caution. It's just such a common occurrence here for sirens to go off, people become numb and then it happens. Such a same.

Mr. Blister- I am the opposite of a computer nerd and would like to get the picture of the black spots on the shift bezel to you for your comments. Would it be acceptable to email to you? liners4228@gmail.com
