2002 SC430 Third brake Light failure
This assembly appears DOA and I understand that it cannot be serviced...does anyone have any other understanding or relevant experience?
There are several companies offering replacements but I cannot determine if these would cover the existing profile, which I need to know before I heat/pressure/remove the existing assembly from the trunk.

So I went ahead and removed the assembly from the trunk and opened it to find a 10" PCB with LED's solder-attached and no evidence of deterioration.
I tested the board/lights and they came on momentarily each time I turned-on the ignition and pressed the brake pedal. But with the pedal pressed I could never get the lights to light again until I turned off and on the ignition.
Does anyone have any experience or guidance for me.
Thanks

Not an answer to your question, but if you decide not to fix it, I don't think you have to have it working to pass inspection. I believe in most (all?) states, the center brake light is a federally mandated manufacturing requirement, same as bumpers that can withstand a 5MPH impact, but not an operating requirement.
Thanks for your inputs....but as I cannot work on my car in our condo garage, I decided to appeal directly to the Lexus dealership GM, who was very responsive, and the problem was resolved by them installing a new luggage department ECU.
