Default Raising top question

I'm having the windows tinted today and am trying to figure out a way to get better access to the rear window.

Can you start stowing the top (with the motor running) and then take your finger off the button and the top will stay partially retracted with the rear window more exposed and then STOP the motor without screwing up the positioning electronics?

Default But

I've talked to the dealer several times to be sure about this, and have done it several times to gain access to the inside of the rear window to clean it, and for the photo opportunity.

You can stop the top action by taking your finger off the button at any time, and you can restart it in either the same or the opposite direction.

However, I have found that you should stop the top with the window in a perpendicular position, more or less. If you do not, the weight of the window will pull it down into the trunk.

With that caveat, stopping it half way is a good, and perhaps the only way, to gain access to the inside of the rear window surface.

Default But2

The manual specifically states not to do this, fyi.

Translation: If you're going to do it, stop it at a strong stress point... as tfischer indicates above.
