Why don't our wiper arms fold all the way bacl?

Good question.
Since Lexus did not re-design the Soarer-SC430 (other than minor front and rear, side mirror, nothing major on other areas) one would assume they left this wiper thing alone.
1 wiper blade is almost hidden. The other one sticks out like a sore thumb, I know. A single blade wiper makes it tolerable a bit.
I had to adjust my wiper blade rest position location to drop it down as much as possible without hitting the windshield. There are prescribed minimum distances.

When I've changed my wiper blades, I...
- Turn on the igntion
- Turn the wipers on
- Turn off the ignition when the wipers are at their highest point
- Change the blades
- Turn the wiper switch back to OFF
- Turn on the ignition again to park the blades

That is the way I do it also. But, the arms only come off the windshield about 5-6 inches and stop. Other cars I have owned (including Lexus) the arm folds to right angles to the windshield making it much easier to change the blade. I have changed mine a number of times with no issues so this is just a curious question.

On other cars I have owned I have found the wipers able to fold back at 90 degrees. However I also have found that after a while of bending them out and then back the springs that are inside that allow for this also are the springs that put tension on the blades so they make good contact with the windshield. I have found that the wipers dont do as good a job as they once did. Perhaps Lexus over thought this.

Just make sure that the glass and wiper blades are clean, else you might scratch the glass by turning on the wipers when its dry.

On a related point. Has anyone polished their windshield to remove wiper streaks? I've ordered some polishing agent and have polishing pads for my multitool. Just waiting for the cerium oxide to arrive. Any tips, concerns, or examples?
