I named my SC "silver bullet" ( I know now, not very original). The tag is "SLVBLT" and not everyone gets it. I think the 'save Baltimore' interpretation was the funniest.

Yep, it's funny...

I'm a Bimmer guy at heart and this SC430 reminds me of a 70s Oldsmobile...it can't handle, relatively quick, comfortable, reliable, smooth, but it's still not a BMW. After driving the F13 650i I know eventually that will replace the SC, well either that or a R230 SL55; both still not true drivers cars, but it's like an SC430 with more gusto and a bit more handling.

Sorry if I prefer driving performance over most other attributes...my ideal daily would be a Porsche; until I can afford one I will play with what I have and mod my SC as it's one of my toys until I finish my degree and then from that point on I should be able to afford some other toys.

Maybe it's because I'm young I still want a some sport with my car. I should not have sold my Z4, that was perfect for my needs as a DD. I lost my Z3 M coupe in a hurricane, else I would still have that and not the SC. I still have no regrets on purchasing the SC, none at all...in fact with the minor mods I have planned it will only get better!

Wow! Where did that brown color come from. I don't think I have seen it on an SC before. Very nice.

so i am a GS430 owner and i have never browsed this section of CL before but i was bored and couldn't sleep and there were no new threads in the GS forums so i randomly clicked over here and this was literally the first thread i read and i have to say a HUGE TY to the OP.

i know it seems incredibly obvious in hindsight but i never thought of using a 4 for an A and it really made my day.

i am a uc berkeley alum and i have really been wanting "CAL BEAR" for my plate but it was taken.
i tried a bunch of variations: "CAL B3AR" and a bunch of others i won't bother listing but they were either taken or didn't look right.

well flash forward to just now and after reading this thread i just went over and plugged in: "CAL BE4R" and bingo its mine!

anyways may not seem like a big deal (tho if you check out the pics of my car you can tell i pay attention to every small detail when it comes to my mods and i consider this a mod as well albeit a very tangential one ) but it def made my day so tyvm OP!
this plate will put a nice finishing touch on the exterior aesthetic mods i've done to the car in the short time since i bought it.

cheers.

PS: quick question maybe someone will know. so i have some old vanity plates that i no longer am going to use on the car and i know that you're either supposed to release them or pay a retention fee. i have no problem releasing them so someone else can take em if they so choose (tho its highly doubtful that anyone else would come up with it) but i'd really like to just keep the plates as souvenirs in my office.
what do you think the DMV would do/say if i just claim i lost them while moving?

Not sure about Cal but that's what most people do. Here in Pa a Vanity plate can be claimed 5 years after it has been turned in by the previous owner. Glad you found the site and thread useful. That's what it's all about!
