Considering a high mileage purchase...
hopefully, you guys can give me some insight on what to offer on a 2004 SC with 125k "highway" miles, average condition with interior wear and tear and a dent in the fender.
NADA estimates trade in being 11k-16k, and clean retail at 22k. realistically, what would be considered a nice deal in YOUR minds? the mileage has me a little put off, but i still have a GS300 with 135k and sold my LS400 at 171k miles and neither has ever given me signs of slowing down.
so in summary, at that condition and mileage, what price would make you jump on it? that is, if you didn't already have (a much nicer and newer) one? also, any other advice would be great.

Hard to say without pictures to see the condition. How bad is the dent? Would it require body work, or could it be repaired with paintless dent removal?
Also, the maintenance records would be a big factor with such high milage. There are a few high dollar scheduled maintenance items that would lower the value if they were not performed, such as the timing belt change. I'd see if you can get the maintenance history and carfax. Then report back and we can give a better idea what it's worth.

Timing belt is a big one; if it hasn't already been changed, def something to factor in; if anyone lives near Columbus OH, I have a guy that will do the T-belt for $250 on the V-8 if you supply the belt, kit etc.

no maintenance records, so i would factor getting the belt/pump job done. the dent isn't bad, but would need minor shop attention, i would think 5-700 in shop costs.

If there is no maint history paperwork or records available, and if looking on the Lexus site shows little or no maint performed at dealer, I would pass on the car, especially a high mile car with zilch maint history. You could be buying a whole lot of headaches, at the very least even if the car looks very good, insist on having the car completely inspected by Lexus BEFORE you buy. .
