Fastest cars you've raced and beaten

Just wondering... whats the coolest/fastest car you've raced with your sc430 and beaten? I raced a roush mustang and kicked its ass. same with a trans am firebird. what about you guys?

Poqman 09-28-11 06:39 PM

I'm surprised. What was the race? rolling start, off the line, top end speed or measured distance? Just wondering.

IcEnPinKi 09-28-11 08:41 PM

im surprised as well. i dunno but the sc430 isn't really built for performance.

grabber2 09-28-11 09:23 PM

I never race my SC............

robertrios 09-28-11 09:45 PM

its so hard to tell ive "raced" an ls430, automatic supra non turbo, several ricer cars (integra, eclipse, civics) and done pretty well. Also an MR2 and a porsche (no idea which but it wasnt new)...this is all on the street so its more like playing around I dont think an unmodded sc430 would do too well on a track race...maybe if you got rid of the lag when you floor it.

boosting 09-28-11 09:52 PM

ive raced a v6 camry and almost beat it

husker741 09-28-11 10:48 PM

I'm talking just street drag racing. Jw, you lost to a camry? My previous owner must have souped up my car then.. Ive taken down g35s and 350zs in drags. A camry? That surprises me.

Hey Husker,
If you want to be around for your 21st birthday, I would suggest that you do your drag racing at THE TRACK....

Street racing ain't cool!!
It's stupid, immature and dangerous!
Go to your local drag strip if you want to race!

Just my opinion...

I agree! If you bought the car to race, race it at the track!

mandyfig 09-29-11 08:13 AM

I am more of the punching of the gas pedal to hear the grumble (Injen). No racing intended. Usually do it from a stop on a light. That's about it. Once they see the SC, everybody backs off anyway.

And if somebody did get pissed and want race, I slow down to 20 miles/hr.

husker741 09-29-11 08:20 AM

So seeing you are all in bigger cities, I could understand your concern for street racing. The only "track" near me is in iowa and only ricers race there. Out on this country road outside of omaha, there is a street that is very close to being a quarter mile, and then a street with many twists and turns. officials close it off and make it safer, yet it is still on the "street" and not an actual track. Just to clarify for you all. Street racing is dumb, but when they create a track atmosphere and close it off, I still call it street b/c it is much better than those ricers. I think it actually use to be a landing strip for the quarter mile. Please excuse my misinterpretation. I know I am younger than most of you, but im not stupid.

i'm old and now and then the testosterone still kicks in when someone challenges. However, the price of fines these days overrides the temptation.
I've seen a couple of the Rousch Mustangs run. The one Husker encounted must have been sandbagging or hashed out, because there is no way MY SC would touch it.

husker741 09-29-11 12:33 PM

It was a 2003 roush, and i think it was stage 1 or 2... so not very modded, but still, i was happy.

husker any pics of your car ?

I have however once or twice indulged in the 1/4 mile challenge after the lights go green.. . TT, A4, A5, M3, Boxter all ate rubber and fumes. But then I learnt the hard way. Acceleration required to race seriously burns fuel in a 4.3l v8. In london unleaded is at $10.31 per gallon, I bought my car cash then got finance to pay for the unleaded.

those are pilot sports and i love them. no wheelspin or sliding unless i really force it. I'm getting a custom exhaust too so i think that might scare some away with the sound :) even though it isn't the fastest, people think it is. and like you, I've shown my fair share of audis my back end. almost took an older m3, but he had it modded. srt-4s, rsxs, and others too, I've blown away. and i feel you on the gas prices. over in the states it isn't nearly as bad, but boy do i pay for it when i take it out to those country roads.

DJSPEC 09-29-11 07:09 PM

i dont race my sc. nor race period... haha slow night cruiser with the top down and the stars over head listening to the rumble of the engine with some relaxing music(not rap lol). however I do like to gas it off stop lights right up to the speed limit just to hear the v8 roar =P

although if hawaii had a track, i would test it out :D

M3? Isn't m3 400+ hp and to 60 in 4.8s compare to sc430 288hp 5.8s :uh: Must be a bad m3 racer.

robertrios 09-29-11 08:27 PM

alot of BMW peeps badge their cars as M when they arent, same thing with benz and amg...you see it ALOT less with the lexus ISF and the 250/350 crowd.

nice looking sc eh? haha i see you live in gainesville.. I'm moving to tampa in 2 years. maybe ill see you around :) but yea i know what u mean about the badging. its stupid cuz if you have any trained eye to cars, you can easily tell which ones are true and which ones are wannabes.

redliner8 09-30-11 11:28 AM

husker: I've never raced anyone with mine...A few years ago I would've. What kind of mods do you have?

It was one of those boy racer types, lowered to nearly touch the ground, insane body kit, riddiculous alloys, its logical to assume I may have been lucky as on paper he did have a faster car however he still lost :D. A bit of friendly spur of the moment fun not serious street racing or anything. there is the local tracxh for that... well not that we have a local track

Not an SC but! Same message... Speed kills....
Reminds me of what happened a couple years ago when an older model audi TT went airborne and slammed into the mouth of the Likelike tunnel here in hawaii.

Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department, said two of the dead appear to be males and the other a female. All were pronounced dead at the scene.

He said the accident occurred about 3:50 a.m.

Police are turning Kaneohe-bound traffic around at Valley View Drive.

The deaths this morning bring to 16 the number of traffic fatalities on Oahu so far this year. That compares with nine traffic fatalities during the same period last year.

Police traffic investigators estimated the car was traveling at more than 100 mph when the crash occurred.

By about 7 a.m., they had completed their investigation at the site.

Police spokesman Capt. Frank Fujii said the four-door Audi sedan was speeding when it hit the embankment on the left, then went airborne before slamming into the tunnel wall on the right.

At about 7:20 a.m., firefighters began the grim task of extricating bodies from the wreckage.

"We're hoping there are no other people in that car," Fujii said, adding that investigators could not be sure until several of the victims' bodies are removed.

Witnesses estimated the age of those killed in the crash at between 20 and 30 years, Fujii said.

"Our message to people is, 'Don't speed. Speed kills.' This is just a waste of life," Fujii said.

As of 7:20, police were estimating that the Kaneohe-bound lanes of the highway will remain closed for another hour or two
