Do people still compliment you on your car?? Yes they do!!

Jut thought I would share this with you. This past weekend I had my car out to a show and shine and left it sitting in the drive way. My new neighbour was out front cutting the grass and I noticed he was cutting mine!! The nerve of some people! Anyway I went out to give him a piece of my mind, ( with beer in hand ) and he was complimenting me on my car so I showed him how the top worked and he went into his house and called out his wife and kids to see the neighbour's car!! They thought it was so cool. :D ( he quite enjoyed the beer ). Of course it made me feel good to hear the praise. I just love it when ever I get to drive the car and lots of folks at the show & shine were impressed as well. Never won anything, got beat by a 1980 Camaro, bone stock plain jane?? I was put in the 1980 & newer stock class. :uh:

Hah.. thats awesome; unfortunately its not a racecar and has begun to fall behind in the performance category but when its time to turn heads, the SC excells :D

bacardi 07-06-11 12:14 AM

Its a lexus, you don't want it to sound like a race car. You want it to sound sweet.

LoL.. We certainly dont want it to sound like a racecar haha.. Thats what my other thread is about :p

I just wish it was a little faster from factory.. If lexus dropped the 460 w/the 8 spd; If my SC was as fast as a 335 BMW, I'd be a happy camper :D

Feedback

I still routinely get comments / questions
-an older gentleman pulled up next to me at a red light; went out of his way to flag me down to say 'nice wheels!' (yesterday)
-was gliding past a local drinking establishment a few days back and had a table of women swivel their necks and make catcalls (and as only my head is visible, I give the car most of the credit, ha!)

Regarding performance / BMW comparison, my buddy's got some sort of 550 something or other (pedestrian looks, ha). He's poked me about his car's performance since I got my 2003. Last week we left an establishment together and torched a block or three. It was quite competitive but I beat him to the next light; but I suppose the fact that neither of us is really a speed freak might have tainted the outcome.

mandyfig 07-06-11 06:40 AM

I also compliment an SC when I see one, just returning a favor. I can spot one miles ahead.

tfischer 07-06-11 06:48 AM

I've had mine for 10 years, and just received a compliment last month at a gas station as I was driving to Atlanta, and after 5 hours on the highway, the car, with the top up, did not look its best. Also, the gentleman found it hard to believe the car was ten years old.
I may keep it for a while longer.

mandyfig 07-06-11 08:44 AM

What was the ATL trip for, business?

When you look at the rear mirror at a stop light, watch the people behind you...they talk and point at your car and smile....have you ever noticed?

Do you still have that "Follow me to Hooters" bumper sticker on the back of your car? ;)

Justin2JZ 07-06-11 10:05 AM

Well not really because my current Lexus is stock and the GS300 I just sold was a sleeper, I only had it on coils on the stock 16's. But Ive gotten performance compliments.

texsexlex 07-06-11 10:20 AM

...i still get compliments on mine regularly...although it's basically still bone stock,I try to keep it very clean

Nope, that was last year. The new one says: My other car is a Honda.

76210Guy 07-06-11 10:40 AM

My dental hygienist saw me pull into the parking lot this morning and put the top up.. she complimented the car and said she wasn't charging me NEARLY enough for cleanings <lol>.

On the way home, two guys in a truck, real construction types, gave me the thumbs up.. didn't see THAT coming!
:eek2:

tfischer 07-06-11 10:50 AM

MANDY: "What was the ATL trip for, business?"
MOI: "Objection - irrelevant."
CADDYOWNER: "Sustained."

PLAYTYM 07-06-11 10:53 AM

Being from Vermont, there's not many other SC430s around except for one in the same area, same color too!

Anyways...I get compliments all the time and I'm always asked what year it is and when I tell them it's a 2002...they look shell shocked! :D

Love this car!

grabber2 07-06-11 10:54 AM

got compliment almost everytime I drive it around with top-down

one time my neighbor see me open the top, he walk over and said, he didn't know it was a covertible and said the car look very nice!!! very luxury:D

I mostly drive top down with wife, I prefer the nice cabin with music the rest of the itme.

Sapherynth 07-06-11 12:50 PM

I have had my car about 8 months now and I get a compliment every couple of weeks or so. More regularly now since it is summer top down weather. SCs are fairly common in the NoVa area, (though I imagine, not as much as Florida) so it is not so unique to see others on the road. Comments are usually: "That's a beautiful leather color!", "Is it black?...no wait, it's GREEN!", "A 2002?!? Really, it looks brand new!" and the ubiquitous, "Cool car!". I love the proud parent feeling!!!!!

scubadon 07-06-11 01:06 PM

Nope, haven't gotten a compliment since yesterday.

mandyfig 07-06-11 01:28 PM

What? 24 hours and you are complaining? LOL!

Compliments..? uhhh.. every once in a while.:D

mdpuff 07-06-11 09:19 PM

Yup, people are always saying nice things about the car, especially when my wife is driving it! When I said I got beat by a 80 Camaro it was for a place in the car show not a race! The Camaro was one you wouldn't even notice driving by, plane jane, totally stock, not even a Z28! Go figure???

I-FORCE 07-06-11 09:58 PM

Haha.. Thats amazing;

People rarely recognise that its a lexus.. I was asked on a couple of occasions if it was a Bentley (rear lights) :d

I was thinking not quite; its even better ;)

...hell if you ever pull that car out and don't get a compliment...CALL ME !!! I'll give you about 5-10 quick ones...lol

nwcn98 07-06-11 11:38 PM

Just got one tonight at Home Depot...

tfischer 07-07-11 08:42 AM

That's an interesting observation. I, too, have had inquiries from people who had no idea it was a Lexus (despite all the badges). I think there are a lot of people who associate Lexus with the big sedans (which are wonderful) and the SUVs, many of which are very big. And everyone knows about the RX350, which is ubiquitous. Fewer know about the little convertible, especially now that the SC300 and 400 have just about disappeared from the road.
I'm glad to help spread the good word.

Poqman 07-07-11 03:15 PM

I mostly get just a thumbs up at traffic lights and an occasional "nice car" with nod. Definitely enjoy the comments after just washing and polishing, then going out for a spin.

:ohyeah:

The SC430 is a very stylish and unique looking car, it will never go out of style, it will turn heads forever.

This is why I love mine, even though I would like to have the speed of the Nissan R35 GTR, but I rather have the styling of the SC430 over the speed of the GTR. The GTR look cheap and ricy.

mdpuff 07-07-11 06:02 PM

It was kind of cute at the show & shine I had one gal compliment me on the beautiful custom interior and she was shocked when I told her it was totally stock original! Everyone was amazed that it is an 02 with 47k miles on it! They think it's brand new! :)

raywest 07-07-11 06:16 PM

I received a few compliments over my month long ownership of this car at gas stations, Firestone, and a few other places. I love it, keep them coming haha.

jerzylexus 07-07-11 06:36 PM

all. the. time.

the car is a conversation starter all the way.

76210Guy 07-07-11 08:26 PM

Happened today:

I was in one of the bastions of testosterone this afternoon, The Bass Pro Shop in Grapevine, TX. Two burly cowboy type guys, in one of the biggest Ford F650 custom trucks I've ever seen, rolled down the window and said, "Man! I bet that thang is better than a hunnerd dollar bill and bottle of Jack picken up girls, ain't it?"

I just gave them the thumbs up and moved silently into my vehicle.

I love Texas.

:D

When I get comments like that, I display the photographic evidence that the car just seems to have a knack for attracting *****.
