Idea for Cassette Player
Yea, my initial thought was to buy the cassette with the male 3.5mm cable attached (first post). Then I was wondering if they make cassette without the cable attached, has only inputs instead.
With the first one, the cable will always be hanging out of the cassette player, unless I take out the cassette. I'd rather keep the cassette in the player then just plug in a 3.5mm cable to it.

Tried out the FM transmitter today. Nice clean sound, minimal static, but not half as good as the cassette. One benefit is that it charges my iPod at the same time, while with the cassette I need another cable from lighter
they sell one at target or walmart which is a philips and it works pretty good. I have that and a monster cable brand one id sell. The problem with them is you have to keep your volume on your ipod about half way or it will distort on your speakers. It the SLU created aux input this no longer matters just like the stock aux input in my is250.
I just don't see myself buying the $220 SLU for only 2 AUX inputs, when there's a $3 cassette adapter option. Sound quality may not be as great but it's only $3. I'd rather put the $220 towards buying and installing a DVD/CD player instead.
Or keeping the $220 towards an LED tail upgrade!!!!
Another VERY happy camper with the cassette adapter. As mentioned previously if you lower the volume on the device to around mid level the quality is ideal. I would venture to say that the quality is similar to that of a CD.
Got my adapter for less than 5 dollars on amazon.

Only memories.
I was doing some direct comparisons last night of the FM transmitter vs the cassette, and the cassette was 10 times better. I need to keep the iPhone volume at 50-75% per cent - anything above that distorts -
The bass will shake the car without distorting - so that is good enough for me!
So far my speakers are fine

In an area where there are more than a few FM stations broadcasting, the FM transmitter will be frustrating. A good cassette adapter is better, but I agree that AUX inputs are the best. I have my XM plugged into the VAIS unit.
