ONeforu2c,

Ive spoken to more then a few customizing shops about this and from what i gather, the lower the "K" the more lumen power (brightness) the lights output. Our cars come with a 4300K, which is the 2nd lowest in the sense of "Ks" other then the 3000K (which is used more for the fogs instead of headlights being that it displays a more yellowish hue/glow) so in other words, i believe we have the brightest powered headlights...I'm more then sure theirs a few others on CL that may be able to shed more light in2 the subject. (no pun intended) hope this helps out.

peace

Default don't do it

I agree with the above statement! if you go any higher (4500+) your light output becomes blue. I replaced my SC400 bulbs with HID 8000K's, thinking I would get more light to see better...boy was I wrong. The light was blue and not bright at all, it was difficult to see at night plus the police stopped me several times. I replaces those with HID 6500K (from ebay) and they, in my opinion, are the ones to go with. They have been on the car for over a year and I can see great at night but most important, have not been stopped by the police. I have the SC430 that has never needed light bulbs, yet, so I don't know if the ebay HID bulbs work on that car. I would call the dealer and consult with the service advisor just to be on the safe side. Good luck.

This page has some explanation about color temperature and intensity that may aid in understanding why your car came with 4300K HID lamps and why other colors can be less effective: http://www.hid-conversion-kits.com/

I think the only way to make the headlights brighter is to get a 55W ballast and bulb. If you're looking for a whiter output, go with philips ultinon bulbs.
