The Lexus kit looks like a twin of the Conti Kit (see below) at about the same price from Tire Rack. The BMW kit is about twice as much! What does BMW know that Conti and Lexus do not? On the plus side, BMW and Conti seem to warn more strongly about possible TPMS damage than does Lexus. What do they know that Lexus does not? However, possible TPMS damage is not going to be much of a concern (for me) in the middle of the night in a torrential downpour

"The ContiComfortKit combines a powerful, high-volume, 12-volt air compressor, integral pressure gauge and a latex liquid tire sealant packaged in a compact, lightweight unit that's easy to store in the vehicle. (Kit is 9.5"W x 7"H x 3.75"D.) This product's sealant may interfere with the tire pressure monitoring sensors on vehicles with direct TPMS, possibly leading to error prompts and incorrect pressure readings. Use of this product on direct TPMS vehicles could also result in damage to the tire pressure sensor inside the wheel. Please contact your sales specialist at Tire Rack for more information.

"The ContiComfortKit can also be used as a stand-alone compressor without the sealant activated. When used in this mode, the ContiComfortKit can be used for periodic tire maintenance to compensate for tire pressure losses over time or due to changes in ambient temperature. And in the case of a very slow leak, the ContiComfortKit can restore sufficient pressure without requiring the use of sealant to drive the vehicle to a nearby tire repair facility.

"Without even removing the foreign object (such as nails or screws) in the case of a fast leak or a flat tire, activating the ContiComfortKit sealant will inject the liquid latex tire sealant and the compressor will reinflate the tire to comfortably provide a quick and simple temporary repair of the most common tire hazards, such as tread area punctures caused by nails and screws up to approximately 1/4-inch (6mm) in diameter.

"A typical passenger car tire that is flat will take less than seven minutes to fill. Once the sealant is activated and inflation pressure is correctly set and confirmed with the ContiComfortKit's integral air pressure gauge (NOTE: normal pencil, dial and/or digital tire pressure gauge may become contaminated by the sealant and should not be used) after driving a few miles, the temporarily repaired tire is ready to be driven for up to 125 miles (200 km) at speeds up to 50 mph (80 km/h).

I would have but all of the "Buyer Beware" language regarding the TPMS changed my mind. I'll get a spare on a rim and not risk it.

I had similar concerns about any kind of muck inside a tire getting into the TPMS, but I reasoned if Lexus tells me that their kit is TPMS-friendly and I have a problem after using it, I will get them to make it right.

Just had a confirmation from Sewell that the price for us CL members is quite aggressive and that's the lowest they can sell it for.

I say that for those of you who have not registered at Sewell do so now and at your discretion put an order. I suggest that when you decide to order this kit, combine it with other supplies, accessories and therefore save on shipping charges.

I will be putting in my order shortly.

The kit is a safety precaution and hopefully will not be used throughout the 5 years the sealant is rated for (replacement is $25).

It gives you peace of mind and some storage space. This however should not stop others in getting their compact spare tires. In my case with the kit, I can take my time in finding a compact spare.

Lastly the kit is portable and therefore can be used in any of your fleet.

mandyfig:

You might as well ask Sewell if they want to sponsor a luxlink group buy There's MUCH more interests in that. It's going to be a lot of work from them to get it going again but a lot of the SC430 owners are interested.

Also, do you know if they're going to warranty it even though the kit is not listed under SC430?

I believe so. Does not matter where you use it.
