Depending on what year the SC430 is, you might now be able to reverse it. My '02 uses a BA9 (Frankenstein posts) which can't be reversed because one contact is on the tip and the other is on the base of the bulb. You have to specify reversed polarity bulbs in this case. They exist, you just have to search or ask.

All SCs are the same. It’s not simple as just reverse the wires either. The SC map lights panel involved other functions. I know, I did that and screwed up.

Dome light is easy to replace with small led panel sourced from ebay. The led panels come with 3 or so different connections, one type typically included fits the dome light terminal and can be easily reversed. Also replaced the trunk light with nice bright led panel, easy diy and huge improvement in visibility.

I replaced all lights with LEDs, including map lights, vanity lights, foot lights, trunk light, back up light, and door lights (with puddle lights, Lexus logo). Love them.

Default Current ebay listing for SC430 interior kit LED replacement

When I replaced my old bulbs in 2010 with LED panels (as shown above). They came with options, i.e. fittings that easily reversed. Nowadays, LEDS are common so finding the correct replacements is easier.
Does this listing appear to be what will fit in all SC430's including my 2002?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/9-x-White-L...4383.l4275.c10
Clicking through the details shows what bulbs are included, exchange if it doesnt fit, and exactly what is meant by "reversing the polarity" (turning the base, not flipping the top to the bottom) Price with free shipping is irresistable. That is, if they fit and work! In Other words Bob. would you buy these? I'm counting on you :0 Thanks so much

No, go read post 16 from Harold. He is correct when he says you need the BA9 bayonet (Frankenstein) type bulbs for the overhead lights in your 2002 SC430.
just remove the overhead lens or google BA9 bulb.

I actually prefer the LED boards for their brighter light as pictured in my earlier post. That said, as Jabberwok mentioned, came with multiple base types and easily reversible polarity wires. So no, I would not buy the set you mentioned.

It was several years ago, but I bought an led panel like this with accompanying connection adapters. The panel I purchased on ebay was pretty compact and has 12 leds in 3x4 rectangle. You just have to make sure the panel size listed is not to large to fit under the lens area on the specific light you are installing it into. Check dimensions from various panel vendors.

4pcs BA9S 10 SMD Xenon White High Power LED Light Bulb Car Van Truck DC 12V Lamp
I ordered these from Ebay, but they did not work in my 2002 SC430 map light. They were too loose as if the diameter of the base was too small.... I am wondering if there is a difference between BA9 and BA9s? I'm trying to minimize loss of money chasing after an LED Replacement bulb. I did remove the cover and extracted the burnt bulb. As mentioned, my has a Bayonet (Frankenstein) base with the diameter as 12mm and the length 25 mm. The V Led site leads me to: White Long life 14 LED 360 57 BA9s at $15 per bulb. Although free ship, I'm now timid about ordering after the failure of the above Ebay listing. Getting frustrated, I tried going to all the local Auto parts stores to get a Regular replacement bulb (Kragen, Pep Boys, O'Reilly) None of them carry this bulb and all cross references show the Festoon as the bulb needed, not the Bayonet. More help anyone?
I do not want to go to the Dealer. Thanks Club Lexus

Click on the link in the post above yours. The poster is Jabberwock.
your LEDs probably don’t work because the polarization is incorrect.

I agree. You typically have to ask for reverse polarity bulbs.

Default I gave up on the search for LED replacements.....

I popped open the lens to see a completely different bulb there than what i was told to get. Eventually, I said screw the LED and took the factory bulb to autozone for a regular replacement and THEY couldn't even tell me what bulb it was as they have the same guide everyone else uses. can anyone tell me how to get a proper LED replacement or even what the factory bulb is?
After failing with a "BA9s" (Bayonet) bulb base LED's purchase and not having someones direct link for a successful LED fit: I also had the same sentiment as you jerzylexus... I was not aware of asking for "Reverse Polarity" when ordering. When I took the factory bulb to 3 different auto parts stores..... no luck as the guide books incorrectly indicate the wrong bulb as mentioned by BobVTi... While getting my AC compressor/condenser repair at The Air Shop in Orange County, the owner had a stash of the standard incandescent bulbs from Napa Parts.... He GAVE me 2, so I at least I have working, albeit dim yellow lights.
